The thread i found in search couldnt be brought back up so I had to make a new one.The one thing I saw in the other threads were talk about dead pixels. Is this a big issue with the PSP?And I wonder if sony has worked to fix this. The reason I am asking is because I'm thinking about asking for one for christmas.
12/9/2005 10:32:15 AM
I thought I had two dead pixels on mine, but they were just stuck. There's a video file you can download that fixes stuck pixels. How? FUCKING MAGIC.
12/9/2005 10:57:22 AM
is it easy to find one with the old firmware? or have they all been updated at this point?
12/9/2005 11:01:42 AM
I dunno, but I bet eventually there will be a downgrader available for 2.5It kind of sucks to not be able to play GTA or Socom, though.
12/9/2005 11:04:24 AM
What about some of its other capabilities other than gaming? I'm just wondering if that little thing is worhth the money.
12/9/2005 10:18:22 PM
Well, if you can get one with the old firmware, just about the best damned thing you can do with it is play emulators. You can use it as somewhat of a media player as well, but I don't really have any need for that.
12/9/2005 10:23:57 PM
I recently traded a friend for his PSP and so far, I enjoy it. I have to get a bigger card (gig or 2) to put some TV shows and more songs on it. I use it to watch movies. SOCOM online is a blast. Overall, I enjoy owning a PSP, but dunno if I would have dropped $250 for it.
12/10/2005 2:28:44 AM
whats your name on socom? i'm saturn11
12/10/2005 3:25:40 AM
If you can find a PSP with v2.0 firmware, you can do pretty much everything except playing ISO's of PSP games. I have SOCOM, GTA, about 80 roms (NES, Genesis, TG-16, SNES), and 10 albums on 1GB stick and another 1GB stick for shows. No need to roll back to 1.5 thanks to an EBOOT loader that takes advantage of a pixel exploit. Also have full use of the browser at 2.0 (no need for a hacked one). It's an awesome system. Very glad I spent the money for it, especially with well over 15k miles of flights in the next 2 months.Oh, and I don't have any dead pixels.[Edited on December 10, 2005 at 4:07 AM. Reason : .]

i want emulators...but I will probably be buying a new PSP this week...so I wont have the old firmware. Will it be possible to get emulators for this?
12/10/2005 3:59:50 PM
not as of yet, but I'm sure someone somewhere will figure out a way...but it seems like bricking will become more and more of a danger
12/11/2005 4:25:10 AM
what cool things can you do with a 1.5 psp?
12/11/2005 12:03:50 PM
Anything mentioned above. Homebrew software = emulation, playing ISOs, whatever.
12/11/2005 12:07:55 PM
"bricking"?
12/11/2005 12:31:37 PM
The process of layering multiple PSPs, stuck together with mortar, to make a wall of electronic entertainment.
12/11/2005 12:34:48 PM
SHES A BRICKHAUS
12/11/2005 12:49:04 PM
But seriously, bricking = turning the PSP into a brick.i.e. installing a piece of malware or doing something to fuck it up to make it about as useful as a $250 brick.
12/11/2005 12:52:58 PM
does anyone know if psp sports games have downloadable rosters?
12/11/2005 6:15:02 PM
hm i dont know. i have mlb for it, and i dont think it does, but it was a very early sports game for the psp, so maybe some of the more recent releases have added that feature.
12/11/2005 6:33:28 PM
I suppose you could look that up pretty easily.
12/11/2005 6:33:40 PM
speaking of the bricker virus, i had mine at 1.5, then i went to 2.0 for socom, and i recently wanted to downgrade so i could play an ISO (game i cant afford but i think i'm gettin it for christmas), but from what i read, the downgrade walkthrough's links were infected with this bricker virus, so i guess i'll just wait a couple weeks for christmas to play the game
12/11/2005 6:40:38 PM
I'm about to have to upgrade. I think I want Price of Persia.
12/11/2005 6:42:26 PM
^^i tried looking it up and cant find any definite answers.has anyone played Tiger Woods 06 for the PSP?
12/11/2005 6:42:49 PM

12/11/2005 6:43:34 PM
^thanks sounds good.I wanna get GTA. Playing multiplayer on that sounds awesome.
12/11/2005 6:46:48 PM
^^ It's already out.
12/11/2005 6:50:23 PM
anyone have gta?
12/11/2005 7:34:01 PM
I do. there was a thread about it when it came out./message_topic.aspx?topic=348014It's pretty much so what you'd expect. Portable GTA.
12/11/2005 7:55:32 PM
^^^wow did not know that
12/11/2005 8:55:58 PM
it's basically just "POP: warrior within" with more glitches and a couple new levels (from what i've heard)
12/12/2005 12:30:11 PM
The Prince of Persia game for PSP isn't The Two Thrones, I have heard some people get confused about it. It is an "expansion" of Warrior Within from what I understand. I haven't played it, but considering the number of glitches in Warrior Within I would think Ubisoft would fix them before making a PSP version.
12/12/2005 12:52:25 PM
so I got a psp for xmas but didnt get any games, just giftcards. any reccomendations? I want GTA, virtua tennis and Tiger Woods 06. anyone have these?
12/25/2005 8:39:59 PM
virtua tennis is a port of virtua tennis 2 for dreamcast so if you liked that, you'll like the psp version. if you never played the dreamcast version, it's still a fun game.toemoss has gta and seems to like it all right.
12/25/2005 9:45:52 PM
^thats exactly what I had hoped. Virtua Tennis is the only reason I liked Dreamcast. haha.anyone played Tiger Woods?
12/25/2005 10:10:40 PM
er....did you not ask that question already?
12/25/2005 10:51:50 PM
my little brother got onehis is fucking up alreadyps he's also 13
12/26/2005 12:46:21 AM
I have GTA and SOCOM - both are great gamesWhat firmware are you running on it? I'm not sure if you can run emulators with anything above 2.0 right now...check sites like http://www.psp-hacks.com to see what's out as far as hacks.
12/26/2005 1:25:08 AM
SOCOM is a lot of fun if you enjoy a shooter style game, and especially if you enjoy multiplayer shooters.
12/26/2005 1:30:25 AM
from Sony
12/26/2005 4:58:41 AM
well, at least they are consistent.
12/26/2005 7:00:34 AM
Has anyone safely downgraded the firmware from 2 to 1.5 on their psp?
12/26/2005 11:03:08 AM
i did the downgrader from 2.0 to 1.5 then went back to 2.0 with no problems. I have kept it at 2.0 since the eboot loader works for NES, Genesis, and other homebrew apps and I want to be able to play SOCOM and GTA (which require 2.0 firmware to run). The only bad thing is you can't load ISO's thru eboot (or any other kernel apps for that matter). So unless you want ISO's, there really is no reason to downgrade in my opinion.
12/26/2005 2:22:01 PM
so i just got one of these badass machines for xmas2 questions:1. where do i get this eboot program?2. how do i get my music on it? nevermind[Edited on December 26, 2005 at 6:52 PM. Reason : reading is fundamental]
12/26/2005 6:47:02 PM
ok i just got GTA, Tiger Woods 06, and Virtua Tennis. I am going to play some tiger if anyone wants to play some gta online later, holla.
12/26/2005 6:54:35 PM
i dont think you play GTA "online"...i think it only has ad-hoc multiplayer[Edited on December 26, 2005 at 6:56 PM. Reason : .]
12/26/2005 6:56:52 PM
^turns out you were right.I have a USB cable and a 1-gig memory stick...now how the hell do I add stuff to my mem stick? The computer doesnt recognize that I have the PSP connected to the computer.
12/26/2005 8:17:12 PM
well it basically works like an extra drive. you just copy stuff over. the confusion comes in when you try to figure out where to put stuff, especially with movies and ISOs/emulators.
12/26/2005 8:19:32 PM
well its not even seeing that I have it connected. maybe i did it wrong
12/26/2005 8:20:51 PM
I got it. w00t.
12/26/2005 8:40:36 PM
