it's not much of a thread right now, but i just thought it was cool to see them talking about it. it's on scout.com so i'll just quote:http://mb27.scout.com/fsteelersfrm51.showMessage?topicID=20.topic

That'd be awesome, but I doubt the Steelers end up with a 1st round pick high enough to get Mario.Manny, possibly, like you said.

^yeah i definitely agree with that. i have no illusions of mario going to pittsburgh. he's gone after 5, 10 at the most i'd say.i think manny is late 1st round, early-mid 2nd round pick. depending on how the steelers finish out, they'll be picking mid-to-late. if they miss the playoffs they could probably get manny in the 2nd, but if they pick up their game and make a deep playoff run, they may have to use their 1st rounder on him if they want him. the good thing is cowher is an alum, so you know he knows about them both.

hopefully Colmer is trying to talk them into coming to Tampa Baywe could use Mario on the other end with Simeon, and move Manny to LB with Brooks and Quarles

^Thats why Manny would be a good fit in TampaFWIW Mario will be a star in any defense, he is a bigger version of Peppers

Mario can play the 3-4 but I think he'd be more effective/dominant as a 4-3 DE. Manny will be most effective initially as a 3-4 pass rush OLB or a 4-3 pass rush specialist DE, and could potentially develop into a Dwight Freeney type.

yeahonce againeli made them trade himEL OH EL

Manny still might make it as a DE. Someone on ESPN said that he showed that he could gain weight last off season...I dont know how much he gained...but if he could continue to do that, he would still make a good NFL DE.
12/9/2005 10:40:55 AM
In a 4-3 Manny certainly could be a DE in many schemes, like the one the Panthers used in the Seifret era, in which OLB's were used as DE's (Kevin Greene). In a 3-4, he would have to be an OLB though.
12/9/2005 10:52:42 AM
^I agree, especially since you are now seeing smaller DE's in 4-3 systems.

It will be a tough task to be better than Peppers. However, Mario has as much size and athleticism, and better technique than Peppers had at this point in his development. If Mario can develop as much as Peppers did at the next level and stays healthy, he can be Pro Bowl each and every year.
