Has anybody played this yet? I kind of like it but I kind of hate it at the same time. It sort of reminds me of Paper Mario, which I loved, and it's got very positive reviews, but I just can't get past the control sceme. Basically, each button is the command button for each of the four characters you control (at one time), which is kind of interesting but it really confusing in practice. I can't think of ever having so much trouble learning the controls of a game without so much trouble. The only difficulty present in the game is a result of meaning to hit A when you actually hit B.

Okay, now imagine SS but with 4 characters instead of two.And yeah, the characters move together, but when you're in the world and you need mario to jump you press A. Luigi jumps with B. Generally Baby Mario rides mario and can jump off with X, and the same for Baby Luigi with Y. If you need to use the hammer you hit R and then the action button. The worst thing is that in the menus during battle, it's the same. In other words, if Luigi is about to do something (turn based RPG style battle) his action command comes up but it uses a different button that Mario's does. Basically, you use different buttons to select the same commands depending on who's about to act, and it's just really confusing.

Panthro, I assume that you would rather have a game that looks nice over a game that has quality gameplay. So you think we are childish because something doesn't have to be bright and shiny to hold our attention?

yeah, I never got used to the controls in superstar saga and stopped about 1/3 through the game.I didn't like how dependant battles were on timing the action commands. in RPG, timing added a small bonus to your attacks, and in paper mario they were more important (but easy to do) and it was ok to miss them, but in SS they seemed harder (mainly from the different buttons) and you were totally gimp if you didnt execute them right.

Yeah, I LOVED Paper Mario for GC and really liked the system of timed attacks. The combination of having to remember which button you have to use at the moment plus the fact that if you hit the wrong one you might as well have not attacked = suck city.

better than just watching the moves go down, thats why i got bored with turn based rpgs.

Partners in time, partners in life.

I really enjoyed Superstar Saga. The timing in the battles had the option for clues, but even so it made the battles a lot of fun. Best of all, they brought back the Koopa Kids.

^^ but peach is a princesssthat, and I really don't wanna believe she's a tranny
