I KNOW this has been posted before, but I can't find it (or was it another board?).IGN has a couple of new videos out for this game. New feature is "Load and Fire" batting, pulling the right thumbstick back as the pitch is thrown, then moving it forward to hit the ball. Holding R1 or R trigger during the stroke will swing for contact, while doing the same with L1 or L trigger will swing for power (or vice-versa). Video at the bottom of the page:http://sports.ign.com/articles/674/674208p1.htmlGreat idea, I love it, but it does sound like it will take some getting used to.Also, the Right stick will be used for throwing the ball. To the right throws to first, etc, and holding it longer adds power to the throw.Another new feature is improved Create-a-Park. Much more in depth than in '05, video at bottom of page:http://sports.ign.com/articles/672/672430p1.htmlRead somewhere that the price for this game will be well below the $50 mark. Sound like i might be getting this one...

Christ, didn't MVP 2005 hit the stores at like a $25 price?
12/7/2005 10:34:37 PM
$30 I think, I could be wrong
12/7/2005 10:41:20 PM
Good thing it has the create-a-park feature, cause it doesn't look like Doak is in the game. http://sports.ign.com/articles/667/667706p1.html
12/7/2005 11:09:41 PM
Thats some shit there. I thought they came and took pics of Doak? Least Carolina isnt on there so we won't hear shit.
12/7/2005 11:20:03 PM
wont be hard to create.. its a pretty generic looking park

I've already bought my copy. I can't wait to access the ESPN Everywhere feature where you can see real score updates and be able to listen to ESPN Radio while you're playing the game. Sounds cool.

ign's review: 8.7.http://xbox.ign.com/articles/681/681281p1.htmllooks like there are a couple of notable flaws, but that's to be expected with the first game in a franchise. but there are alot of great things, since this really isn't the first game in a franchise.
1/16/2006 7:13:26 PM
EB Games at Crabtree said they're not getting it in til Friday. So I went ahead and preordered it. What do I care; it's only a few days.

Got it. It's pretty sweet. The new precision throwing and load-and-fire hitting are nice, but if you don't like them, you can switch to classic. I love the ping. Throwing the ball back to the pitcher is nice, but I didn't really care before without it. One thing I hate is that batters step out of the box between pitches and you can't hurry them along or skip it. You just have to wait. Granted it's only a couple seconds, but it just bugs me. Maybe there's a way to turn it off, but I've only played a little so far, so I haven't found it yet.Very interesting twists on recruiting and dynasty mode to tailor it specifically for baseball. For example, there are challenges that you can complete that will help boost your program prestige rating. In my dynasty, a recent challenge I had was hit one home run during a series and I got level-one batting equipment that improve batting ratings, and my prestige went up half a star. The challenges are obviously harder as go along. But completing them helps improve your prestige. So you don't have to wait until the end of a national championship season to increase your prestige ranking by a star. If you meet your goals in dynasty mode, you can hire top-flight assistant coaches. For example, if I get 10 win with one pitcher in this season, I can hire a Level-One pitching coach. In recruiting, you can only see the recruits who have their needs met by your program. If a recruit wants a level-four hitting coach and you don't have one, he won't be available to you.The better the assistant coach, the more he helps with recruiting. A new feature is the skill line projection. Depending on the level of your assistant coach, he will project how the recruit will pan out over the next few years. It looks like a line graph and tells you how the player's abilities might change from year to year as far as development goes. So it's possible a highly-ranked recruit could bomb in year 3 or 4 according to projections, but only a level 3 or 4 asst coach could foresee that. This helps figure out redshirting, too. Also with recruiting, you get 11.7 scholarships per year. You have to negotiate with recruits and agree on a percentage of scholarship and playing time. You can offer a 10% scholarship and a year 3 starter to some kid, but if he doesn't like it, he won't sign right away. You can also handle walk-ons here by offering a 0% scholarship. Offering a 100% scholarship locks up one full scholarship from your 11.7 total for the duration of the recruits time in your program. That's all I can think of right now.
1/19/2006 5:37:55 PM
I really need to pick up this game.
1/19/2006 5:42:19 PM
Nice post. I can't believe they actually are that precise on the 11.7 scholarships. Sounds like a good game. I think I'll get it.
1/19/2006 5:43:18 PM
One other thing, you can be offered new jobs at other schools if you build a good staff and have success at your current school, and you can also apparently be offered to start a new program somewhere. So basically it's create-a-school in the middle of the dynasty. That was my understanding of it anyway.
1/19/2006 5:48:15 PM
just bought it in crabtree and they had plenty of ps2 copies
1/19/2006 9:08:40 PM
I'm debating whether to get this or just wait, since next year's will probably have Doak...
1/19/2006 9:17:52 PM
god DAMNIT I want this game so badhell I work at EB, I will probably trade some shit in and get it tomorrow
1/19/2006 10:12:39 PM
Another thing that bothers me is Mike Patrick. I mean, if you've watched Sunday Night Football recently, you know he likes to make the most pedestrian plays sound incredible. For example, a routine pop-up in foul territory down the third baseline, the third baseman strolls over and catches it no problem. Not even running was necessary. Here's Patrick's take: POPPED it up in FOUL territory and the third baseman MAKES THE CATCH for the out. WHAT A PLAY.

I think this game isn't bad at all. I think the hitting will take some time getting used to, and I'm glad that if people don't like the new hitting or fielding feature, they can revert back to MVP 2005. I also like the fact that you can get real time ESPN scores while playing a dynasty game. That's really neat. The soundtrack is better than NCAA Football by a long margin. Sure, that's not saying much, but that's how I feel about it.

1/28/2006 8:28:35 PM
my brother has been playing it and said Brackman and Bates throw/hit as lefties? Didnt know if anyone else had noticed this.
1/29/2006 2:10:22 AM
They do. I think I'm going to start a dynasty all over and put the correct names/numbers/etc in.
1/29/2006 12:04:41 PM
i put correct names in for most of the ACC baseball schools, it took me no time at all, editing these players is a lot easier than march madness or ncaa football
1/29/2006 4:53:24 PM
i love this game
1/29/2006 6:22:33 PM
