i'm beginning to interview and i need to know the best place to get a suit. i would like to say that money isn't a matter, but it is. i know that these things cost a lot, though. i'm looking to spend up to $500, but anything below that (that also looks great) would be better.

really need this advice.

you can get a deal on a suit at sk mens at crossroads

save your money on getting a really nice suit and get 2 or maybe even 3 for 500 bucks there

that way you can get a black, grey, and brown or blue suit for work when you get hired

Depending on how often you are going to wear it, you can get a suit for around 150 at a department store, or maybe at S&K or one of those places, and then get it tailored if need be. That is, if it's just for interviews and stuff. If you are going to be wearing it to work, too, you might want to spend a little more. I'm sure there's more places where you could spend 500 bucks than you need to know.

i got a $100 suit at marshalls this weekend. they dont normally carry them... i was at s&k, didnt like the low-end suits, so i gave marshalls a try and voila! this thing is around the quality of the $300 suits at marshalls imo. give them a shot, they had a few left when i got this one.

i've bought 3 at express and 2 at banana republic recently

maybe not the most fashionable clothes on the planet, but given that I've managed to get the prices down from $400-500 to $150-300 given various discounts and promotions, it's been well worth it for everyday wear

Yeah, Jos A Banks is sending me a lot of promotions this year for the holidays. They have very good deals running and their quality & fit is by far the best you'll get at a chain store.

I'll second that S&K is really good for suits. I got one there a few years ago for ~$100 (including them hemming the trousers for me) and it still looks brand new. I have only really worn it 6-8 times since then for job interviews and formal events, but it looks good.

You guys are nuts. Drive around the GoodWills and pay $10 for a suit and another $10 to dryclean it. I promise you'll find at least one that fits you. Pay another $10 to have it tailored if absolutely necessary. Charlotte has an excellent selection if you are willing to drive / from that area. Wal-mart has Puritan ties for $9; shirts for $12; and shoes for $15; socks for $2.

Total Cost: ~$60.

a question: if i'm getting suited for an interview, should i go with the classic and traditionally acceptable 3-button, or be classy and fashionable with the 5-button. the people at the men's warehouse gave me a bad look when i said 5-buttons look nicer. they do, but they said it's more for fashion or partyware than it is for an interview.

and what about the banana republic? looked kind of cheesy...way overpriced.

Hong Kong... if your a white guy you'll be aproached by now fewer than 100 arab gentlemen offering custom tailored suits, should run you about $90 american for a real nice one +air fare of course
