i'll be damned.... All those years of watching Knight Rider, and apparently I never actually understoond what it was all aboutI guess at that age I was just facinated with the talking car and Hasselhoff's stunning chest hair(btw - $35.99 for the whole season? come on - i could get 10 times better quality for the same price buying the dvd. How 'bout some volume discount here? I'm thinking $20 tops for entire seasons of vintage shows)[Edited on December 6, 2005 at 3:19 PM. Reason : .]

12/6/2005 3:26:09 PM
the conan o'brian shit is rediculous - no one is paying $2 to watch a 5 minute clip that's been all over the internet for 4-5 year
12/6/2005 3:35:52 PM
Yes they will.
12/6/2005 3:38:27 PM
Whats the quality?saves torrent time lol
12/6/2005 3:39:14 PM
they're optimized to watch on a video iPod, so 320x240.....btw, the original shows they annouced were Lost, Desperate Housewives, Nightstalker, That's so Raven, and The Suite Life of Jack and Codyhttp://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20051012-5422.htmleditand while 320x240 may sound very low, considering you're probably using a computer monitor with 1024x768 or up to 1600x1200, recall that normal NTSC TV only broadcasts at 480x330, while HDTV is up to 1920x1080I think Apple should at least offer NTSC quality shows for download, then iTunes could do some down-sampling when you drop it on your iPod. But for shows like The Office which are broadcast in HDTV, it's worthless to spend $2 for a crappy 320x240 version.[Edited on December 6, 2005 at 3:52 PM. Reason : resolution]

^ iTunes/iPod will play back MP4 video files.I have a few videos from other sources that work. Some websites that have video are now releasing iPod versions. There is even some wildly successful iPorn.
12/6/2005 4:29:48 PM
are you asking if you can rip your DVDs to your computer? Yes - you've always been able to. or as you asking if you can put those rips onto a video iPod? Yes, with some hackshttp://www.google.com/search?q=rip+dvd+to+ipod
12/6/2005 4:31:11 PM
^i was definitely asking the latter
12/6/2005 4:58:18 PM
i have both the UTporn and The Transporter on my ipod

If you want to nitpick, I'm sure it is.But then we have to have the conversation about overscan and TV safe and everything.Plus, 640x480 sounds nice and round.

I have a video iPod. I use this method to get DVDs onto it and you don't really need "hacks": http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html#1000It's easy.1 - Rip DVD2 - Run that program, converts it to h264 (this thing works fast too, I encoded Batman Begins in like 40 minutes)3 - Add it to iTunes same way you add a songNow it would be really nice if iTunes did all this for you in one step the way it will rip a CD and add it to your library.
12/6/2005 6:08:48 PM
^^ haha yeah, I was just being a bitch because you were correcting someone.^I think the MPAA would eat them alive if they did that without gettin some kind of deal signed, and some DRM type assurances.[Edited on December 6, 2005 at 6:13 PM. Reason : ]

agentlion, I find myself thinking... couldn't they have written that Knight Rider synopsis in a way where they would have avoided saying "K. I. T. T. K. I. T. T." Not the best thing to end a sentence with if you are going to start the next sentence with it. And shouldn't it be "K. I. T. T.. K. I. T. T." anyway.

The punctuation comment is correct, but that thing about apostrophes is dead fucking wrong. Bookmark Strunk and White from Bartleby.com.

They are keeping up with many of the current popular shows and bringing out all sorts of classics that geeks will greedily buy like crazy. They really really need higher quality downloads though....

this is a good idea - http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2006/3/14/3188Put the entire NCAA tournament on iTunes - at $1.99 a game, or $19.99 for all 63 games (31 cents/game)
3/15/2006 4:00:56 AM
uhmare they live?WHY THE FUCK DO I WANT ALL 64 GAMES ON MY IPOD THE DAY AFTER THEY'RE PLAYED?

3/15/2006 10:28:59 AM
because people like to archive this kind of shit. If, for example, NCSU made it to the championship game, tons of people here would want to download 8 or 10 key games (all of ours, some of our opponents previous games, other upsets), so for the same price you can just get the whole tournament.
3/15/2006 10:29:08 AM
no news release on apple.com but the first full length movie is out on iTunes, albiet a disney channel movie "High School Musical" for $9.99.the content is probably not interesting to too many on here but certainly is a sign of where apple is headed, and they're making progress, its on iTunes prior to the DVD release
