12/4/2005 12:34:57 AM
I'm actually gloating that FSU won!!! I lived in Northern Virginia too long and I enjoy seeing the Hokies fans pout!!!
12/4/2005 12:50:10 AM
I'm going to rub this into a coworker for the rest of the year. He's a huge Hokie fan for no apparent reason, and talking to him about sports is like having ESPN radio regurgitated in your ear. I've been telling him that FSU would route VT all year long.
12/4/2005 12:54:09 AM
OMG CHANCE "NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT SHIT THAT I TYPE ON THE WOLF WEB BECAUSE IM FUCKING 40 YEARS OLD" CHIAPETTI

was it Brent Musberger who said it would be the "AARP" bowl?
12/4/2005 3:24:29 AM
12/4/2005 8:22:44 AM
^Damn never thought of it that way. Good point.
12/4/2005 8:24:03 AM
^^ oh, but they would have "earned" it despite being less worthy than the teams that played well the whole season...and then people would scream about how the playoff selection is wrong...because people will bitch no matter what...but anyway, how does this affect the ACC's BCS bid? i know there's some rule about the average ranking of your top team affecting your bid... will miami save us from this problem or are we screwed by fsu?
12/4/2005 9:47:56 AM
12/4/2005 10:15:52 AM
an 8 team playoff would involve the conference champions of the 8 major conferences.
12/4/2005 10:25:14 AM
12/4/2005 10:53:14 AM
an 8 team playoff would still involve fsu at 4 losses... so that's kind of a silly arguement. oregan lost to usc so the only people they can blame is themselves as unfortunate as it is. the regular season is your playoffs. win out and poof you're in the NC, lose and you have no one to blame if you get left out
12/4/2005 12:08:12 PM
^ While I agree in a very loose, general sense, that logic applies how to a scenario with 3 undefeated teams? The BCS is not the best system you could have, but it's also not all that bad either. The only time it truly failed was last year when an undefeated Auburn got the shaft.
12/4/2005 12:10:30 PM
The playoff doesnt have to follow the BCS rules, so FSU might not get to play. THey could make some rule that if the conference champion is ranked outside the top 20 then they can choose another team if they wish. Kinda like they can choose ND if they are ranked inside the top 15 right? (whatever the number is).
12/4/2005 12:21:13 PM
^that would be idioticthose type of clauses tend to screw things up, and there would be a lot of complaints about the "subjective" choice elementbetter to keep it objective, if we did not want FSU to represent us this year, and if the Canes and Hokies are mad about it, they (along with BC) should have beat them on the field![Edited on December 4, 2005 at 12:32 PM. Reason : .]
12/4/2005 12:32:27 PM
^It will never happen without the major conferences getting automatic bids.
12/4/2005 12:33:43 PM
Last nite being the first ACC championship game was a very important night.Too bad it turned into such a farse.
12/4/2005 12:34:48 PM
why?because the underdog won?
12/4/2005 12:38:38 PM
VT just exposed themselves on national TV when it counted the mostthey were incredibly overrated and had no business being anywhere near a BCS bowlnot like FSU deserves to be there eitherthe ACC as a whole this year was not as good as everyone expected it to be
12/4/2005 12:42:54 PM
12/4/2005 1:08:58 PM
^it's pretty clear that teams from other conferences would whip our asses. ACC teams have anemic offenses. Don't give me that BS about good defenses, either -- most of out teams have scrub, inexperienced QBs.

12/4/2005 1:33:09 PM
12/4/2005 1:54:31 PM
look the team everyone picked to win the acc this year and many picked to win the national championship wasn't even able to win their conference championship. VT lost to a self imploding FSU team. FSU is going to be blown out by Penn State and I don't even want to think about what would happen if they played USC or Texas. The same could be said for any ACC team won the acc championship game.
12/4/2005 1:58:36 PM
don't write off FSU just yet against Penn St. VT is known for choking in big games, but that doesn't mean they didn't play a good team. FSU played in the championship game like they had been playing earlier this season, and I think they'll dominate Penn St. on special teams plays if they play like they did yesterday.
12/4/2005 2:04:14 PM
^^^The media didn't "re-write history" two years ago. 1 loss LSU beat Oklahoma in the BCS championship game. 1 loss USC beat Michigan in the. By default, the coaches poll champ was LSU because they won the BCS championship game. But the media poll voted USC #1. Thus a split champion. Nobody went back and re-wrote anything.[Edited on December 4, 2005 at 2:05 PM. Reason : ]

Penn State will crush the Clowns\Just like my Gators did[Edited on December 4, 2005 at 2:11 PM. Reason : ]
12/4/2005 2:08:23 PM
the media rewrote history by calling USC the national champions. The whole purpose of the BCS was to have a true national champion, and the AP poll means nothing. The only reason the media rewrote history is because two years ago the AP had no influence over the BCS. Ever since they got their 1/3 vote in it, they've been singing its praises.

I'm still in firm belief that the only reason the AP voted USC to number one after that whole fiasco was to create controversy and leverage against the BCS so they could get involved. It worked too.
