In the Hot Wings resaurant this evening. These 3 officers, (2white 1black) were eating while this one black guy, who had been sitting on the other side of the room was watching a football game. The guy was rooting for Akron against Northern Illinois and was just speaking out like "yeah, there you go!" or "thats right!"One of the cops just got up and told his partner "I'm trying to eat my dinner but this guy over here won't shut up" this was really loud toothen he started asking the black guy why he was there and asking him if he was homeless. The black guy was like "hell no, i ate while ago and i'm watching the game!" The cop was like "don't use that tone at me"and then the cop turned around and said "i can throw you out of here if i want" He turned to the resaurant owner and asked if the guy was a problem and the owner said that he was a regular. Then the cop told the guy he needed to watch his mouth and all three left the restaurant. ...

glad you got a name for the officer
12/1/2005 10:43:27 PM
yeahpower corrupts
12/1/2005 10:43:29 PM
the thing is, the black officer just put his head down while the whole thing went on.
12/1/2005 10:45:03 PM
the cops were dressed in suites and ties. I just saw that they had a side arm and a badge on the belt
12/1/2005 10:45:46 PM
you shoulda asked for there names and reported it
12/1/2005 10:49:58 PM
And given their described behavior, I'm sure they would've been very forthcoming with the names.
12/1/2005 10:52:42 PM
reported what?It isn't illegal to be a dick
12/1/2005 10:53:31 PM
abuse of power[Edited on December 1, 2005 at 10:54 PM. Reason : -]
12/1/2005 10:53:59 PM
What a douchebag.
12/1/2005 10:55:07 PM
what did he abuse? He doesn't have the power to talk to the guy?He didn't tell him to leave, he just told him to shut the fuck up
12/1/2005 10:56:57 PM
12/1/2005 11:01:02 PM
he's being a dick, but this is no rodney king here
12/1/2005 11:04:49 PM
dickery is not illegal.
12/1/2005 11:08:44 PM
who said it was?
12/1/2005 11:10:16 PM
I don't think people are saying it's illegal, but I am sure his Captain wouldn't appreciate the Raleigh police force being portrayed ilke that. It's about sending the right message, and that is not what the officer was doing.
12/1/2005 11:10:18 PM
its about having another complaint on the dick's record.[Edited on December 1, 2005 at 11:11 PM. Reason : 2]
12/1/2005 11:10:49 PM
that's true, it isn't something you should really be doing at work, protect and serve and allbut it's not really an abuse of power either
12/1/2005 11:11:13 PM
it is abuse if he's telling someone one he can throw them out, for no reason. He's just using his authority to be an ass.
12/1/2005 11:14:38 PM
^^ WTF. A threat to use the authority when it's completely uncalled for is abuse.
12/1/2005 11:22:40 PM
the body language and tone of the officer was way out of line. Not only did he raise his tone from across the room but he walked over to the guy while he was talking. As a white male, i've never been in this type of situation before. My friend and I just sat there after the cops left and were like WTF.
12/1/2005 11:35:40 PM
I've been in situations like that before.Cops are dicks. Get over it.
12/1/2005 11:57:21 PM
Superman is a dick too.
12/2/2005 12:01:16 AM
you should have said somethingI know you were shocked but you should be prepared for this kind of shitthe only way it will ever change is if people refuse to tolerate it
12/2/2005 12:02:22 AM
yeah, standing up to this guy would suddenly rid the world of assholesI've seen shit like this happen in places all the time, you guys are just getting up in arms because the guy was in a police uniform. Cops are people too, and some people are assholes.

names and badge numbers are the standard practice, in fact if you ever see a cop doing something he shouldn't be doing you should keep an eye out for it. they're supposed to be public servants, not the other way around, especially when my taxes are paying for it.
12/2/2005 1:11:18 AM
Cops are supposed to be public servants, but they act more like an occupying army these days. Over the past several decades, the training methods for police have been increasingly "militarized", and police officers are given an "us vs. them" mentality in their view towards the general population.Popular culture (propaganda) reinforces this idea, and conditions the population to accept this. If you'll notice, it seems like about half of the shows on the major networks in the evening hours are cop shows (CSI, Law and Order, Cold Case, etc.). In all of these shows, the cops are portrayed as the "good guys", as "the savior's of society." Also, the shows promote the idea that cops should be able to break the rules (eg, interrogate people after they've asked for a lawyer, etc.) in order to "solve the crime." Often, constitutional rights are portrayed as a hindrance to the cops being able to solve the crimes. On top of this, the cops in the shows act all snobbish and think they can treat common citizens like crap. Notice the arrogant smug look on the actors faces when they talk to common citizens. This goes to the tone in which cops think they can talk to people. For example, the show "Cops" on Fox portrays the general population as a bunch of dirty, wife-beating, drunk, hoodlums...while the cops are the ones with the uniforms and the clean haircuts who are the "good guys." This conditions the general public to accept the "us vs. them" mentality of the cops. Now, I'm not saying that all cops are like this and are bad cops. There are clearly some good cops out there. But there are increasingly more and more bad cops. The training is producing this, and propaganda in place to condition the public to accept it.[Edited on December 2, 2005 at 8:30 AM. Reason : `]

12/2/2005 11:13:39 AM
well as said after your post, this whole thread is about racewas it racist to mention the racial makeup of the police officers? or the race of the football fan?
12/2/2005 11:25:45 AM
what the fuck does this have to do about race?the only thing that brought race into it was the OP who was looking for some racist bastard cop where really there was just an asshole not like the cop said 'im getting tired of that loud nigger so im gonna go threaten him'[Edited on December 2, 2005 at 11:30 AM. but everyone knows that niggers are loud

I don't really understand where in the story the police officer provoked him. The dude was being loud and they started fucking with him. I'm not sure that what they did was right (I wasn't there), but it sure doesn't sound like they "provoked" him to do anything.Maybe "I saw a Raleigh Police officer be an asshole to a black man," would have been better.

the exceptiondoes not equalthe rule3 douchebags who happen to be copsor even 16,000 douchebags who happen to be copsdoesn't mean that all cops are power abusing assholesin fact most of them arent.
12/4/2005 1:33:44 PM
although it may certainly be true that most cops aren't asses, it can be said by some people that most of the ones they've encountered are asses.
