"We are trying to avoid Boise like the plague...It helps nothing to have no fans follow us and get our tails whipped by Boise State on their home blue turf. That game is on a Wednesday at 4:30 (while most are still at work) and in no way will that "get our name out there."

Charlotte would be ideal for practice time...location for fans...ability to have recruits at the game...etc..etc...etc.

Although USF would not be as good of an opponent compared to Boise State, playing in your Home state would help with recruiting...ala UNC this year.

Boise is our last ditch...if we have to type thing. I know we should be thankful to get any bowl this year but we are not a sure thing for Charlotte and thinking about Boise...more the other way around. We really want Charlotte and if Clemson ends up there then we fall back to Boise.
"

Yes, the field is Blue and that's pretty cool, but I for one hope that we DO NOT play there. 4:30 on a Wednesday.... I mean really.

don't worry about it.

We are in Charlotte - as long as Lee Fowler doesn't jump on the Boise Bowl early.

Boise wasn't as good as they have been in past years. USF can surprise people. Keep in mind they beat a team that beat UNC by 55 points..

USF would also be good for our Florida players who can only seem to get hyped when playing against guys they know from high school.

^^^^ Agreed. Playing any decent team like Boise on their home field is not going to be easy. Throw in the fact that it is a bowl game in probably freezing ass weather and it makes it all that much tougher for us. Plus I agree that it's a shitty game time and that we'll probably not travel well to Idaho.

if you think our bowl placement depends on the championship game then you are an idiot.. do we all remember the gator bowl a few years ago? we were FOURTH in the ACC and went where the 2nd place team should have gone

I just glanced at the rest of this thread, but I would hate Fowler so bad if he didn't do everything in his power to get us to Charlotte... unless the Gator Bowl or Peach Bowl has called him.

WRONG. If you think our bowl placement (& many other teams') doesn't depend on the ACC & SEC Championship game, then you are an idiot, which includes you. Yes, it has nothing to do with actual seeding, but it does determine who is available to be picked.

Granted, FSU is very unlikely to beat VT, if VT loses to FSU, that would change the bowl placements for many teams. For example, in that scenario, VT probably gets the Peach Bowl bid. That, in turn, means Clemson probably goes to the Charlotte bowl, which bumps us to Boise or Tennessee.

The SEC game also can influence where we go. If UGA loses, they likely go to the Peach Bowl which probably pits them against Clemson. If UGA wins however, the SEC team in the Peach is likely USC, which would pit them against FSU. That of course, bumps Clemson to Charlotte & us to Boise/Nash. Unless both FSU & UGA win, which of course changes alot.

Seriously - just talked to friends at Raycom downstairs, they have already chosen State (several reasons, I'll go into them if you'd like) and barring something crazy - like State choosing to not go to a bowl - they will announce Monday.

If VT loses to FSU, FSU goes to BCS, Miami to Gator, VT to Peach, Clemson to Champs, We still go to charlotte.

^That is one possibility yes, but I don't know that that will happen. I said it probably would happen, not that it would, as I think BC may go to Champs in that scenario.

^^They are assuming Clemson will go to the Peach Bowl though. And that may not happen if the conference championship games happen a certain way, which is why I was trying to say.

ahahah.. If UConn beats Louisville (Brohm is out so it isn't impossible) then they would goto to Charlotte in all likelihood since they would travel WAY WAY better then USF. Funny thing is they SUCK this year. 4th string QB played half the year and the starter is still hurt but finally back. Jesus. We would probably be like 4 TD favorites..

all of the comments about clemson are spot on. if clemson doesn't go to the peach then we're going to boise because clemson will be in florida or charlotte.

swofford is trying to avoid the public embarrassment of sending BC to Boise so he's lobbying hard for the peach to take BC. swofford is telling the peach that if they get georgia the game will sell out regardless of who plays the dawgs (which is probably true). but of course that depends on georgia losing the sec championship game.

champs sports bowl looks to be pretty solid on FSU unless FSU by some miracle beats VT in which case they'll probably take Clemson since VT will go to the peach.

the bottom line: somebody has to play in boise. i'd say the odds are about 40% BC, 40% NC State, 20% FSU.

I'd LOVE for you to go into them. I'm not doubting that you might have some inside information, I'd just like to hear the reasoning. I certainly think our bowl placement will depend on how the championship games go, so if you know otherwise, I'd want to hear about it.

^^ Meineke has said 1) Clemson 2) State

It really doesn't matter where Clemson goes, so long as they go before Charlotte.

Even if Charlotte gets to select Clemson, we're not going to Boise if BC is still around-- MPC has said so.

Okay...I haven't read this in a while so I'll respond to all the things I just read:

BC will no go to the Champs Bowl under any scenario. They do not want BC at all. Champs wish list is #1 FSU, #2 Clemson, #3-#6 everyone but BC and GT, #7 GT b/c they went last year, #8 BC

I seriously doubt this is a done deal unless Peach and Champs have informed the Car Care that boths #1 is Clemson and in no way will they be left for the Car Care.

I think the ACC and SEC games can have some baring on where we go...The Gator Bowl director said earlier this week that they would take VT back if VT loses the ACC game. This pushes Miami to Peach to face any SEC team.

The scenario that could put us in Boise is if GT ends up in the Peach. This could possibly happen if VT blows out FSU and LSU loses to UGA, Gator goes Miami, Peach take GT to play LSU (almost garuntees a sellout playing in their home town since their is concern that LSU wouldn't travel well to ATL twice after a loss, pushing FSU to Champs, Clemson to Charlotte.

In this scenario it opens up Nashville a bit more since GT is the odds on favorite for that but Fowler has been keeping our interest in Music City Bowl up. I'm hoping he has it where we won't go to Boise and BC is a lock but I'm not sure how good our chances are for Nashvile vs. Boise.

So in summary the SEC game matters more than the ACC Champ game. Go LSU!

in the scenario where GaTech is in the peach, BC would be in boise(they already stated BC is their #1) and we would be in nashville. I would like that one as well. Like I've said before, the only way we are going to boise is if BC is in the peach. end of discussion.

Peach takin GT will sell tickets but i dont think the peach bowl has ever had problem selling tickets. GT fans wont do anything but buy tickets. I mean they wont be spending money on hotels and tourist stuff and what not. Thats also a big factor in choosing who comes and who dont.
