i think we could win it later in the season, but i think its too early in the season for the offense. our D will keep it close though. 74-65 iowa

Iowa definitely, NCSU has a good team this year but Iowa is better plus it is at Iowa

We blow them out by 20State 80-Iowa 60due to our raw defense and makin them take poor shots and having a terrible shooting %Atsur has the game of his life

So we're only bad fans if we predict losses in football season? No one is a bad fan if he or she predicts a loss for the basketball team? Is that cuz there are more games, or what?
11/29/2005 10:32:29 AM
OMG GREAT POINTACCENTED WITH TEH
11/29/2005 10:34:22 AM
I'm not trying to make a great point. I was just pointing out how fucking stupid it is to call someone a bad fan for predicting a loss and rooting for a win.
11/29/2005 10:37:43 AM
not sure i see anyone calling anyone a bad fan in herethe only one that brought that shit to this thread was you
11/29/2005 10:38:46 AM
WTF are you talking about? Nobody is talking about who's a good fan or not in this thread except you. Take that garbage out of here.
11/29/2005 10:40:00 AM
Guys...relax.Learn to read. The whole point is that no one is calling anyone a bad fan. I was just saying, "Hey look, people are predicting losses. We got called bad fans for that in football season, but now it's OK. Just shows how fucking stupid it was during football season."Christ. No wonder I have to write my newspaper articles on a middle-school level.Anyway, I have some stories to write. Have fun arguing about nothing.[Edited on November 29, 2005 at 10:47 AM. Reason : ]

I don't see it in this recent football thread either:http://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=366780
11/29/2005 10:52:34 AM
False again. You're nuts if you don't remember the football threads from the first 3/4 of the season. God forbid someone say we might lose to UNC or Ga. Tech or Clemson or Florida State. My critical thinking has nothing to do with this. I don't even know why you're arguing with me. I don't care if people pick us to lose. I think calling people good and bad fans is stupid. I really have no idea what your beef is.
11/29/2005 10:55:54 AM
I was called a bad fan and told to not goto the game because I said VT would beat us. I think this speaks more to the constant (false) mindset that we are a great football program and not so in bball.P.S.- I feel MUCH more confident about the BBall season then I did about the Football season going into the year.[Edited on November 29, 2005 at 11:00 AM. NCSU is going to win this going away. First half meltdown results in us being down by 12 at the half, then Brackman shows up and cleans house in the second half.69 - 58
11/29/2005 11:00:28 AM
back to the prognostication and guesswork that this thread started with -state by double digits, as long as they don't break out zone defense their backcourt is pretty stout; if bethel/atsur/bennnerman and co. can limit them we'll be ok
11/29/2005 11:01:37 AM
Yeah man. I don't care if anyone predicts that we'll lose. Predicting and cheering are two different things. That said, I haven't had a chance to see much of the bball team this year because of work, so I can't really make a prediction. But I will say I hope we win just to spite my editor, who is a Big 10 fan.
11/29/2005 11:02:07 AM
The only middle school level shit going on is your continued whinny ass bringing a good thread down with bitching about a completely different sportstfu and gtfo
11/29/2005 11:02:54 AM
What are you even talking about?I haven't brought any threads down.
11/29/2005 11:03:38 AM
how do you feel confident about the bball team if
11/29/2005 11:05:17 AM
Is this gonna be on ESPN or ESPN2?
11/29/2005 11:07:03 AM
^^ Based on things I've read about the team before the season, the fact that I covered them for two years -- interviews with Sendek and players -- and what I have seen of them this year.Much doesn't mean none at all.And for that matter, you don't need to see every minute of every game to get a general feeling. That's all I said. I have a general feeling of confidence based on everything I've already mentioned.[Edited on November 29, 2005 at 11:10 AM. Reason : ]

Yes, you do need to see every minute of a game this early in the season when we havent played anyone worth a shit yet. ND is ok, but not great. If you had seen us play to this point, you would be fairly confident, but skeptical because of some boneheaded mistakes we make over and over. We still have to overcome that scoring drought that hits us once or twice a game. Our offense is definately not clicking yet. One good thing is that our D is pretty good, and I would like to think it was our D that forced ND to miss so many shots the other night, not them sucking balls.
11/29/2005 11:31:07 AM
I want Gavin and Ced to quit missing dunks.
11/29/2005 11:34:19 AM
I said more confident than football season. That's all. I didn't even say it first. I agreed with someone else.I'm not saying we're going to streak through the NCAA tourney or anything. All I said was that I feel better about the bball team than I did about the football team in the preseason.
11/29/2005 11:35:11 AM
I am not sure how i feel so far.Ive only been to two of the games, Geulph and VMI, and I saw the second half of the ND game on tv.I like our rebounding ability when we go big with little head and b-rack but im not sure how effective they are going to be on the offensive end when we face someone with good post defense. Our defense did look good from what I saw.
11/29/2005 11:38:48 AM
Yeah...I'm coming to Raleigh tonight for a grad school interview tomorrow. So if all goes well, I'll be a student again in January. Then I'll finally be able to see some games. That would be nice.
11/29/2005 11:41:27 AM
If we are to win this game, then two things will have to happen...Given we'll probably take about 15 3-pointers(barring getting down by a lot early and taking more) so we need to make 10 of those 3's, maybe 11. Our inside game just isn't where it needs to be so our outside game is going to have to take over like it did in the first half against ND.The second thing, is when we get to the line, we have to convert. We shot pretty good against ND, but we really need to be shooting as a team about 80% to make sure we don't squander big leads at the end.If we make >=60% of our 3's, play our usual defense, and perform at the line late in the game, we should walk away with a victory.State - 71Iowa - 66

If we come out with the defensive intensity we had against ND, then we will be in good shape. It was nice to see us hitting the boards with success for the first time in recent memory. The added depth we are using this season will be nice by the end of the season as well, although I'm not sure that our freshmen are ready to step in and be major contributors just yet.On the other hand I still think we're not getting consistant ball movement and utilizing Simmons and Brackman enough. I saw very few back door cuts in that game as well. If we fall into prolonged streaks of settling for bad 3's as we've had a habit of doing from time to time in the last few years, we'll be in trouble if we don't come out hot. In the end though, I think we will play a good game and it will come down to ball control. I like using Bethel, Grant, and Atsur as they each give us a different look when starting the offense. If we can shoot 40% or better, get to the line, and limit our turnovers we win. If we turn the ball over, I don't see any way for us to win against a quality team in a hostile environment (which our younger players really have experienced yet). NC State - 68Iowa - 64

^^I'm not saying it was a horrible thing, just that even when they tried man defenses we didn't run too many back door cuts. We did a pretty good job thoughout most of that game of taking what was given to us and limiting many of our 3 point attempts to good open looks where our shooters had a chance to square up and set their feet. Hence the fact that we were around 50% from behind the line for most of the night. If we are patient and continue to work the offense like that we'll be hard to stop because we do have the depth and finally have the skilled inside personel to give teams headaches this season.
11/29/2005 2:40:05 PM
Ced may be our best weapon against the 2-3 zone if he can consistently hit jumpers from the free throw line like that one he nailed against ND.Just let him stand there at the weak spot, feed him the ball, and go...
11/29/2005 2:42:52 PM
a good amount of our 3s this season, someone sets a pick and our guy shoots over them and the defenders
