Hey, my little brother put his Xbox 360 online. Well he didnt get what he wanted so he put the second chance thing up thinking it was a one day continuation of the auction. However, it sent emails to the people saying that if they wanted to buy it for their last bid we would sell. He only got 425 for it since we didnt cancel that one in time. Are we now forced to send the xbox? What can we do to close this? PLEASE HELP

...and that's why you set a reserve on the auction
11/28/2005 7:11:50 PM
well seeing how your brother prolly paid less than $425 for it, I would say that $425 is a good price.
11/28/2005 7:12:06 PM
just dont sell itthey aint gonna do shit
11/28/2005 7:12:11 PM
go ask ebay
11/28/2005 7:12:33 PM
Unless you put a reserve price on the auction and that reserve wasn't met, you're obligated to sell it for whatever the final price is.[Edited on November 28, 2005 at 7:17 PM. Reason : ... or you could just keep the xbox and get negative feedback/get reported to eBay]
11/28/2005 7:17:04 PM
He said that if i didnt ship it, he would go through ebay. So there is nothing i can do? Im begging

You really should have planned this out a little better. The guy won the auction, send him the console./stating the obvious
11/28/2005 7:37:08 PM
^ yeah. you should have gotten someone else to bid on it at the end of the auction if he decided he didn't want to sell it for what it was shaping up to be

LOL....hahahahahahahaha........
11/28/2005 9:46:17 PM
deal. with. it.
11/28/2005 9:47:49 PM
How old is the brother? If he's under 18 then you're good to go...they can't do shit, cause you can't enter into a legally binding agreement as a minor unless you have parental consent.
11/28/2005 11:33:47 PM
ebay can't do shit, we bid on a brand new car once and the guy didn't have a reserve and we won with it like 4000$ under blue book. The guy wasn't happy and we never got the car. dude they can't come to your house and make you sell it. ebay will just slap you on your hand. worse comes to worse you loose your account...then just sign up for a new one.
11/29/2005 12:34:56 AM
You fucked upTell the buyer to blow it out his ass, and delete the ebay acount, or, if you have plenty of good feedback, jsut suck it up and take the 1 negative. He cannot do shit, neither can ebay. They cannot MAKE you sell it, they can just annoy you.
11/29/2005 12:51:25 AM
you and your little brother SUCK at using ebay. stop complaining.
11/29/2005 1:03:14 AM
if you didn't set a reserve, you are obligated to sell/ship it.if not, you'll get reported and with a negative feedback, nobody will ever buy from you again (seriously)You should be THRILLED you made a profit, even if it wasn't astronomical. Those crazy prices are time sensative, and you missed the boat. Just ship it.
11/29/2005 1:04:16 AM
geez, maybe you should read what second chance means before you click on it.Ebay will tell you "this is a contract you have to send it blah blah blah", but really I doubt they can make you do anything. Worse thing is you'll get bad feedback or cancelled account, but unless you have an account with a reputation to keep, who cares? That being said, selling at auction is a gamble you don't always win. Suck it up and keep your end of the deal. It's not like you're losing hundreds anyways.(Oh, and bbehe's right. If he's not 18, ebay can't enforce shit.)
11/29/2005 1:05:05 AM
hahahahahahahahhathis is what you get for being a dick and trying to make tons of money off of some unlucky person that wants onehahahahahahaha

11/29/2005 10:34:14 AM
Worst Case- The guy sues you for breach of contract. Most likely won't happen, but he legally could do it. Send the game console.
11/29/2005 10:52:17 AM
EBAY IS NOT AROUND FOR YOU TO RIP PPL OFF.
11/29/2005 11:18:54 AM
Hey- I happen to know what's upHere's the deal- you don't have to sell it to the person who did the second chance. You run the risk (most likely this will happen) of the person giving you a bad evaluation. Your brother will not have a 100% possitive rating. That's all. Start a new hotmail account and open up another ebay name...try it again
11/29/2005 12:09:55 PM
11/29/2005 12:13:58 PM
He made a profit on it right? Why not just avoid negative feedback, wait a few months for stocks to be resupplied and buy another one. I know he wanted free $, but $ for the inconvience of not being able to play the latest video games for a few months isn't that bad a deal. He should do what he agreed to do.
11/29/2005 1:13:20 PM
Word is bond y0
11/29/2005 5:38:25 PM
lol, this is ridiculous... don't ship the damn thing, reslist it and make some more $$$ off of it
11/29/2005 5:47:35 PM
haha honestly you'd be crazy to sell it for 425get the bad feedback and create a new accountsucks for the person that wanted it for 425, sucks for you cause you gotta go through the shit to get a new account, probably not ethical, but honestly you gotta do whats best for yourself in the long runto me the easiest way to diffuse this whole situation is to create a new account
11/29/2005 5:56:06 PM
I am totally opposed to people scamming others on ebay. However, there are people stupid enough to spend 2-3 times what something is worth to have it *right now*These people desereve to have their money taken from them - it's not a "scam"That said, your brother should honor the contract he made and send the xbox to the winning bidder. relisting it doesn't make him a "smart businessman" it makes him a "fucking douchebag".
11/29/2005 6:02:22 PM
"fucking douchebag"
11/29/2005 6:38:09 PM
well i'll be a fucking douche bag all the way to the bankand when i'm a millionaire i'll buy my friends, like frat people
11/29/2005 7:11:34 PM
if he only got a low price this time, and he takes the time to create a new account and relist it, will the demand still be high enough to get him a considerably higher price than last time?
11/29/2005 7:18:32 PM
wait so he had a high bid then sent second chance offers to others and got 425? what was the original high bid?
11/29/2005 7:30:32 PM
You can avoid this problem by setting a fucking RESERVE
11/29/2005 10:10:19 PM
learn to use EBAY FTW!
11/29/2005 10:54:06 PM
You fucked up. I dont mean by trying to make money on the x box, I mean you didnt work the ebay system right. You should ship the product, but next time set a reserve high enough to make the amount of $ that you want. Someone will pay it if they want it bad enough. Better luck next time.
11/30/2005 12:41:25 PM
11/30/2005 12:58:05 PM
I dunno what you paid for it originally, but $425 sounds close with the tax ... maybe a little under.Just make sure they can't do anything do your credit via Paypal or whatever. Or they can't "blacklist" your contact/shipping information. Not sure if such measures are even in place, but read up on their website about what they can and can't do.
11/30/2005 1:03:26 PM
NOTE TO SELF: DON'T BUY FROM LFRyder IN CLASSIFIEDS Did the guy pay you for it yet? And are you making at least seome money on it after shipping and all? If he paid for it and you make a profit, then send it. If either of those is the opposite, then do as mentioned above.

you guys are both idiots for clicking on the gay ass second chance offer thing.
12/1/2005 12:47:43 AM
basically what it comes down to is a question of what is more valuable to you...a) maintaining your reputation on ebay as an honest seller, however much feedback you have earned thus far, as well as not having to deal w/ starting a new user name. also, it does appear to be the ethical choice to fulfill the contract, so you should assess how much you value that.orb) making more money, however much that might be, at the expense of more of your time and effort as well as an angry buyer who thought he was getting a great deal.
12/1/2005 2:11:20 AM
^your part b) can omit this part:
12/1/2005 3:26:35 AM
you're screwed
12/1/2005 5:35:47 AM
just hope you dont have your confirmed payment address on the email that goes out to the winner.there are people that hunt down ebay scammers for fun.
