I'm trying to decide what direction to pursue with my next computer build. I'll prolly stick w/ AMD, especially w/ them kicking some ass in the dual-core cpu dept. I won't be getting a dual core, but I'll be getting a mobo which will allow me to use one in the future when the prices come down. Normally I'd just go ahead and get something near the max in the mobo department, but I've got a bit of a hangup. I've currently got a radeon 850XT, and its a pretty kick ass card. Only problem is its AGP. Pretty much every mobo out there is PCI-Express. I did find one mobo that had AGP, and it uses the most recent via chipset (K8T800, i think). Its an ASUS, and I tend to like ASUS, so thats a good thing. Like the A8V-Deluxe or something.Thing is, do I want to stay tied down to the AGP standard or not? The A8V has no PCI-E slots whatsoever, so that also will limit me in the future as well, assuming that part makers switch over to Express. I wouldn't mind switching over to the PCI-E boards, especially since they have nVidia chipsets, or even going w/ the ATI Crossfire chipsets, in the off chance that I get the urge to go SLI it (I know, ATI, but I don't know of any other way to say it...). But, thats going to be a new video card I have to buy when I've already got a damned good video card... Also, looking at ATIs newest cards out there (X1800), they seem to have about the same specs as the 850. So I don't seem to really gain anything, aside from the intrinsic advantage of the new architecture...So, whattaya think? Stay w/ the AGP one more time, or what?

stick with the AGP until u decide u need to redo ur entire system. i'm upgrading my AGP system from christmas presents i will be getting. i mean me personally, i'm just gonna stick with AGP until i feel like it is holding me back in gaming then i will switch to PCI-e.

move to PCIe, every new card will be PCIe only from here on out. All the new boards are going PCIe, just bite the bullet and upgrade. Sell the ATI card on ebay and get a Geforce 6800GT or above.
