What is the difference when a guy tells a girl she is HOT, CUTE, or PRETTY?
What do they mean when they say any of these to a girl.......which one is a better compliment?

pretty: An attractive girl you'd be proud to have your photo taken with or take to a formal

hot: Usually when guys use this term, they simply want sexual relations or bragging rights.

if i say a girl is hot i generally think she's out of my league gorgeous. cute or pretty are interchangeable. they mean she's got some admirable features and someone i may consider asking out. also someone i could probably have meaningful conversations with (unlike most "hot" girls) which i think would be a better compliment. but i'm sure everyone's probably got a different opinion on it, thats mine.

It's a gentlemen's way of saying a girl is attractive.

Cute/pretty only compliments the girl's face.

Hot describes the face and the body in a way that is sexually appealing.

beautiful = good looking with a nice personality

hot = superficial as others have said. very attractive but not a whole lot happening upstairs and lacking in personality

i think these "classifications" take personality into account, if you don't know their personality then you just assume based on how they look and act and if you get to know them better you can change how you describe them

hot describes how much guys want to bang her, has nothing to do with personality.

true, all the famous hot people might be air-heads, but there are thousands who are not air-heads (and so they chose to do something meaningful with their lives, and that's why they are not celebs).

I usually associate cuteness with more childlike qualities. Pretty is something more befitting of an older looking beautiful person. As for hotness, the opinions stated above sound just about right.

I dont think either one can really be "better" ... I have dated girls that I thought were hot, cute, and pretty all in one, just depended on the day.

i agree with the following in this thread:

hot = all sexual, we arent saying they are airheads or otherwise. variety of looks. similar to sexy.

beautiful/gorgeous = very good looking, but not in a slutty way. classic beauty.

cute = good looking in an innocent, maybe even girl-next door kinda way.

pretty = generic good looking term. when used for people you like (your gf), it is just a generic way of saying "i find you attractive or above average." it doubles as a way to be polite for someone who may be alright/average, but you dont wanna say that to their significant other/parent/etc (maybe even slightly meh, but if she's ugly you just agree with whatever they say, nod your head, and/or dont say anything).

well i mean if she is very attractive, but not really slutty then she'd more likely be called "beautiful." the exception is if you are just talking with the boys or something, beautiful sounds kinda sappy/gay (in that case everyone is hot, alright, or nasty...there are no in betweens).

someone can also appear slutty without being slutty. a "cute" good girl could get all raw looking and be look hot, for instance.

cute is a good word for a variety of reasons. Two visually identical girls, both less than hot.
One is evil. the other is your best friend and everyone loves to be around her.

See, this thread is surprising me, because most people I know never use "pretty" to describe a girl. It doesn't really seem like a word for this generation. If I've ever used it, it was probably only out of politesse because I felt dishonest saying anything with meaning.

"Hot" is purely a sexual thing; most folks I know use it only two ways:

1) To describe someone they'd nail without actually liking,
2) To describe a girl they like who has gone out of their way to be alluring for an occasion (again, temporary)

"Cute" implies, if not innocence, at least real datability, thus combining attractiveness with personality; it would be my base compliment of choice, except so many triflin' bitches take it as an insult. "Oh, I'm cute but not hot? I'm cute but not beautiful?" Goddamn, you people are stupid.

"Beautiful" is really not something to be thrown around; it's like "cute" to the extreme, so I when I see it used I generally suspect that the person using it is lying unless I know for a fact they're really into the target.

Of course, it's not like I've ever used these in practice, so there's no point to my having mentioned them, except I'm too bored not to.

I personally think most "hot" girls are sluts. Whenever I call someone hot, that means im only thinking about one thing: sex. When I call someone cute, I'm thinking about what would be the best pickup line. I probably would never get in a relationship with a hot girl, but they are great for a while. Long relationships and marriage...definetly cute girls. My g/f right now is really cute (atlease in my opinion)..but somedays, she can be very hot...like when she dresses very sexy, or slutty. Hot is more of a sexual thing...so..when she dresses sexy, I think about sex...which goes back to my definition of hot.
