I'm trying to figure out how the tuition works for online classes..Do you still pay for your regular tuition and then add in the $108/hr?How does this work? Do you end up paying more for online courses?

Depends on the course. If TRACS says it's a distance ed fee course, I don't know how it works. I do know that classes online that do not say they have a distance ed fee (CH 201, for instance) are billed as regular tuition.

distance ed is entirely separate and not included in the oncampus fees. this can really hurt money wise if you have 12 hours on campus hours already (the max they will charge). However there are some 'on campus' online courses. if it says through distance education the you know it is entirely through them. Otherwise its an on campus course. As for the 108, not sure what that is. I was never charged an extra sum for my 'on campus' online courses.

http://distance.ncsu.edu/registration/fees.html^Correct. With fees, it comes to out $120 per credit hour, or $360 for a 3-hour distance education course. All things considering, this IS cheaper than the current tuition you pay, but you end up paying separately for it. If you want to take a course or two over the summer, this is a good route to go.

if it is not a section numbered 601, 602, 603 etc. it is not a Distance Education course.we offer quite a few online courses that are not distance ed and will be changed at the regular tuition rate.

DE fees also cover all the library access you get. DE students (if they're about that research stuff) get books mailed directly to them and other resources delivered electronically.

ok so I decided I'm going to take all of my classes online next semester - I don't need to buy the books? since you just said they send the books to ya - do I still have to pay for them or are they included in the fees?

is eng331 one where there's an extra fee?
12/1/2005 10:11:27 PM
No! eng 332 is what i'm taking - they are "web-based" even though the difference in web-based and DE is ummm... the lectures being online or on DVD? (which to me, is not worth $350)fulltime students shouldn't be charged for DE AND tuition
