This scandal could bring down as many as 60 republicans in Congress. 2006 will be a banner year for Democrats! First, Republicans will be re-districted out of existence, and then Bush-Cheney will be impeached. Followed by another 40 year reign for the Dems
11/28/2005 8:32:26 AM
I honestly wouldn't mind that happening - as long as alito gets confirmed, the republicans can go to hell.

It might be time for some politicians to pull a Vince Foster on Mr. A.
1/3/2006 12:47:17 PM
lobbyists are scum
1/3/2006 1:22:58 PM
I don't know why you Dems are getting so happy. This is a bipartisan scandal. Harry Reid looks pretty stupid for calling this a Republican problem when he accepted $66,000 from Abramoff.
1/3/2006 3:00:36 PM
i'm happy because corrupt politicians are going to be outed. I don't care what party they're with.but most of them WILL be republicans
1/3/2006 3:07:02 PM
Whatever their party, fuck them. Can we get some of these going on in the state governments as well? I'm sure there's some shady business going on here that could use some tidying up.
1/3/2006 3:25:24 PM
This is why we need public funding of campaigns. It's alot cheaper in the long run than having corporate moguls buying legislators.Republicans can always break down crying and invoke God for forgiveness.http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/11/28.html#a6094I'm sure Satan cried too.

by the way, Number of dollars Jack Abramoff donated to Democrats:Zero.http://firedoglake.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_firedoglake_archive.html#113631635821774149his clients donated money to democrats, but he didn't. By the way, did you guys know that abramoff produced the anti-communist flick "Red Scorpion?" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Abramoff#Early_yearsAbramoff spent ten years in Hollywood, producing such movies as Red Scorpion, an anti-communist film made just after his term with the College Republicans ended. This movie was filmed in territory controlled by South Africa's white supremacist government, and it's been alleged to have been funded by the South African army; which lead to protests from anti-apartheid groups.http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2005/08/17/abramoff/Finally, if you want some really entertaining reading about who's likely to be squealed on by abramoff, check out this slate article: http://www.slate.com/id/2133666/nav/tap1/Some highlights:

however, let it not be said that democratic congressmen are corrupt. this guy, however, is a republican. he's always been a party-line republican, he's always been a reaganite, and I'd imagine that even being friends with a democrat is something he'd only do if he had something to gain from it
1/4/2006 11:09:53 AM
the fark link said "abramoff seen walking towards fan with bag of stinky stuff"this is going to be fun to watch

i hope whoever was doing illegal, underhanded, corrupt stuff goes down, regardless of party.and I hope that the GOP takes this as an opportunity to police their own. It's the right thing to do, and it would be good PR (amazing how those two things are juxtaposed).
1/4/2006 1:22:20 PM
i wonder if jerry fallwell and pat robertson are going to criticize these dishonest and immoral practices
1/4/2006 1:43:22 PM
^No, they'll probably forgive him and ask for this judge's seat to suddenly become a "vacancy," as well as wish for a plague or something along those lines.
1/4/2006 1:58:47 PM
Lets just rid Congress of all Republicans and Democrats. The world would be such a better place.

1/4/2006 3:18:54 PM
see now this is the sort of thing that democrats should rightfully be screaming their heads off about... unfortunately they've diluted the significance of their "outrage"
1/4/2006 3:44:49 PM
^Why do you say that?
1/4/2006 3:56:10 PM
because its true.you guys express maximum outrage at everything the administration does and now nobody knows when you're "outraged" because you simply disagree or if you're outraged at something real, like this.i think its funny. have fun convincing that public that, really, you're really really really double-plus really outraged about abramoff
1/4/2006 3:59:02 PM
Any conservative worth their salt should be up in arms about this as well. Pity that the republican party has run off most of those guys. There's plenty of slime to go around in this. The GOP is hip deep in the muck, and the Dems only a bit less so. In the end, I don't expect alot to come out of this besides some bad publicity and a few lower-level heads to roll. Politicans have been bought and sold, and neither party is going to lead the charge into the underbelly of their operations.
