I read Ender's Game. It was ok. The one thing that threw me off was how he wasn't that specific about the appearance/location of places until the very end where out of the blue he gives details on how to get to a secific restaurant in Greensboro.

It was Ender's Game. I honestly can't remember many details. I read the book about 4 years ago. It just struck me as odd that he hadn't been specific about much of anything until he mentioned that restaurant. I'm guessing that it really exists and that he really likes it.

On second though it might have been some park or lake or something. My wife is a OSC fan and I might have heard her mention a restaurant when she was talking about the books she reads.

i read one of his book about post-ww3 america, it was just about how all other christian denominations will show their true colors by killing dissidents, and the mormons will be the last civil group in america who who repopulate the globe.

he's always trying to make the damn mormons look like the super race.

I remember him talking about how Ender and Valentine were floating on a dock off Lake Brandt. That was kinda neat for me having spent my childhood on Regents Park Ln.

i think he rocks...sometimes just comes across as the crazy mormon that he is, but all in all, i've enjoyed nearly every single one of his books...especially ones no one talks about, like the worthing saga or wyrms or treason...his not-so-scifi/fantasy books aren't as good, i don't think

got hooked on the ender universe (thanks to EnderJRD), and i hope the next bean book will be just as good.

read the homecoming series also. i liked it up until the last one, it threw me a bit. it was still okay, it was written well, but it was just too much of a change from the others. overt characterization out the ass.

The Folk of the Fringe. IMHO a great fucking book. And truth to tell I dont think he's painting the Mormons as some master race, but now that the mainstream Mormon community has abandoned the practice of polygamy what your left with is a group of people who dont drink, smoke, have illicit sex, do drugs, and believe in a strong family. Not too crazy if you ask me.

I just happened to finish reading Ender's Game for the first time a few days ago, and he does give pretty specific descriptions of getting to Lake Brandt, no mention of a restaurant (might be in a later book though).

Yeah, that was weird to me too. I was at the part of the book right before they go to the lake and realized that there hadn't been any geographical descriptions (but to mention it, he doesn't really described rooms or the way people look or anything either), then I turn the page and I'm like "Greensbor o? wtf?"

Anyway... it was an entertaining book... not really a great book. I mean he has a knack for writing something fun to read that you want to find out what happens next, but the characters are pretty one-dimensional and the whole conflict is pretty average as far as alien opponents go. I'll read the sequel though, just to see what happens.

Ender's Shadow = ABSOLUTELY AWESOME (writing from Bean's perspective was an inspired choice)

I like Speaker for the Dead and Xenocide, but Children of the Mind was less engaging.

yeah!!! I LOVED Ender's Shadow. One of the few sequels that I think surpasses the original. Taken together the two books are even better. It's fantastic to get the same story from the viewpoint of two different characters.

I'm especially a fan of Treason. Unfortunately, my copy was destroyed when my apartment was flooded a few years ago, and it's almost impossible to find in bookstores... I'm sure I could find it online if I tried, but I'm lazy. The Worthing Saga is kickass.

his books are great as long as he's writing about children. as soon as he writes about adults, I totally lose interest... his writing just loses flavor.

When I saw the title of this thread a few days ago I didnt even bother opening it up. After I picked up issues 3&4 of Ultimate Iron Man I made the connection. The comic is kinda slow but I like the fact they're trying to build a good base for the story. Its a good book. Too bad one of the Kuberts is drawing it.
