So I bought my first song from itunes and wanted to put it into my sony mp3 player. however the song downloaded as a m4p or some shit. wtf is this i just want a straight up normal mp3 file. What services (other than gay itunes) will give me a no bull shit, no restricted, mp3 song for .99 or less?

11/17/2005 10:09:10 PM

What kind of mp3 player is it?If it doesn't play wma-drm, most music stores won't work with it (except allofmp3.com ).
11/17/2005 10:15:32 PM
hahahahahahahaand they all have restrictions. be sure your mp3 player will work with your store before you purchase. they're not all interoperable. ALL of the stores will give you some gay ass protected file. All of them. (except for allofmp3, but that's not American, if we were putting that restriction on our criteria in the first place...)

^^ yeah, that too... make sure you're allowed to transfer it to a portable device (some stores have 2 fees, one to listen on your computer, one to transfer/burn it).
11/17/2005 10:19:30 PM
jHymn motherfuckers.
11/17/2005 10:22:01 PM
I don't think it works with the new itunes.
11/17/2005 10:24:20 PM
don't upgrade to 6.0 thenor do it the old-fashioned way until a new jhymn version is released: http://www.hotrecorder.com
11/17/2005 10:33:02 PM
seriouslyallofmp3.comuntil they shut it down theres nothing better
11/17/2005 10:45:11 PM
why the hell would you pay for an illegal download?

11/17/2005 10:55:32 PM
Wait, you are paying for the mp3's at allofmp3, right? So how can the buyer be held responsible for the seller charging too little?
11/17/2005 11:03:39 PM
wtf are you asking?
11/17/2005 11:07:58 PM
I don't get why Allofmp3 is illegal
11/17/2005 11:40:15 PM
11/18/2005 12:21:38 AM
^^Because they don't have the right to distribute those songs. They just decided to give themselves that right.[Edited on November 18, 2005 at 12:32 AM. Reason : well, a little more complex than that, but Russian copyright enforcement is a total joke]
11/18/2005 12:31:21 AM
i thought music was free now...who still pays for it????
11/18/2005 12:34:05 AM
its like if i decided to put my songs online and charge people for them. just because i charge money for them doesnt mean they are legal for you to download
11/18/2005 12:34:07 AM
^ No, but as stated above, Russian Copyright law is....strange. And very very different from ours.I would imagine that for russia, what they do is legal. Now the question then becomes, is it illegal for a consumer in the us to buy from the russian company, if they comply with russian laws and it's all online. That, i have no clue.
11/18/2005 4:19:33 AM
In Soviet Russia, CDs rip you.
11/18/2005 9:10:02 AM
well there goes my effort in gettin LEGAL mp3s....might as well stick to illegal means.
11/18/2005 4:51:27 PM
to the person who said "burn it to cd, then re-rip it". you do realize that makes it a 2nd generation compressed file right? each time you rip something you "lose" audio information that can NEVER be regained. you want to do that TWICE, no less? lol.as annoying as the Soviet Russia jokes can be when overused...they always seem to be funny. kinda like "ur mom" jokes.[Edited on November 18, 2005 at 6:01 PM. Reason : replying to the Soviet Russia joke]
11/18/2005 6:00:21 PM
NOTHING is as good as a quality mom joke.
11/18/2005 6:05:08 PM
11/18/2005 6:18:22 PM
^ true dat. but like someone else mentioned Jhymn is a great program for stripping that pesky DRM. too bad they havent updated it for iTunes 6 yet. bleh!i would buy some songs too if it weren't for that actually. nothing pisses me off more than DRM.

11/18/2005 7:24:15 PM
well what I did was i played the song and used Audacity to record it using "stereo mix" for my input selection. So basically I recorded it as it passed through my audio card. Quality is a bit worse but still not that bad and I don't really listen to music that loud anymore. Still a shitty experience and definately not worth $0.99 although it was easy to buy the song as it downloaded in about 15 seconds on TWC

11/18/2005 11:15:23 PM
allofmp3.com is nice becouse you pay fir bandwidth used, not per song. If you want low quality mp3, songs are cheap. If you want high rate lossless, you pay a little more. But at only 2 cent per meg of transfer, its easy. Be warned, once you downlaod a song form them, you can no longer download it without paying for it again. So you pay EVERY time you download a song, but at 6-10 cent a song, its worth it.
11/18/2005 11:55:26 PM
ive re-downloaded stuff and didnt pay, did they change somehting?my sister used to buy music and i would login and download her stuff
11/19/2005 8:38:43 AM
just because something is legal in Russia doesnt mean it is legal here. Hell, I could probably buy a rocket launcher from russia but that doesnt mean it would be legal to own in the US. You might as well pay to be using Kazaa or something if you use allofmp3.
11/19/2005 9:49:01 AM
the main difference is that the riaa can't do SHIT about allofmp3.they can't plant downloads, they can't track who's downloading what.so your argument, like yourself, is a piece of shit.
11/19/2005 11:25:36 AM
and not only that its a lot easier to use and find stuff with allofmp3.com i'll gladly pay a few cents for that convienience and security, i dont care if its illegal
11/19/2005 12:01:15 PM
11/19/2005 12:26:16 PM
all of your problems will be solved when you buy an ipod.
11/19/2005 12:53:07 PM
allofmp3:SecureSafeNOT UNDER RIAA JURISDICTIONmultiple encoding types to choose form, as well as song bitrates.HUGE selectionEntire albums, with correct names, vrs random misnamed bad quality songs. Thus no more having that one song from an album that nobody liked enough to rip
11/19/2005 5:38:22 PM
another vote here for allofmp3. Fuck the RIAA

they need an allofdivx.combut then again, at $0.02/MB, it's cheaper to buy the DVD
