So I want to take my family to dinner after we see the Nutcracker, and I'm just not sure of a place.I'm looking for a place Uptown Charlotte that you can walk to from the Belk threatre. I want it to be nice, but it would be great if it was a place with plenty of options around $20 a plate (for dinner.)Please share any experiences that you're had. The bad, the good, the tasty! Also, an after dinner place, like for dessert would be great (can't be bar, my sis is only 18.)Thanks!!!

Blue is awesome, might be slightly more expensive than that though.

Top of the Tower Bentlys on 27th that place is THE SHIT...realllllllllly expensive though. Went there for prom they had a special running it was $50 per person but that was a salad, main course, and dessert. Id assume it is pricey when purchasing everything separate as well

Rock Bottom Brewery is pretty cool.

capitol grill was in the movie shallow hal. i went there for my junior prom. it was absolutely delish and around your price range.
11/17/2005 5:30:32 PM
Another vote for capitol grill

i considered all those, not sure if the capitol grille is in my price range, their online menu doesen't have prices, i want something kind of simple, italian would be best. has anyone been to bistro 100, how is it?

What's your order of preference for food, after Italian?(Btw, you find a job in Charlotte, or there for holidays?)[Edited on November 17, 2005 at 5:57 PM. Reason : blah]

Lavecchia's and Mimosa. Unos is good it you're not looking to spend a lot of money. Capitol grille is expensive. Bistro 100 is in the same building as Belk theatre. Twist is good and they have live jazz music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Bistro 100 is good. Its right there in Founders Hall as well. Someone rated them as having the best desserts in the city.

is it really called uptown or do you mean downtown. i know manhattan is one of the only places that use the terms in exact (north is uptown south is downtown) but most other places just call their "center" downtonw. somebody explain
11/18/2005 9:39:18 AM
it's offically called uptown. used to be downtown, but they thought the term conjured images of a dirty, dangerous inner city or something, so they said "we're gonna call it uptown from now on"
11/18/2005 10:04:38 AM
Charlotte downtown is about the only place you can actually safely go to in that area. The city is worse than D.C.
11/18/2005 10:07:49 AM
i don't think i'd go that far, d.c. is pretty bad.but sure there's some rough spots in northeast and west charlotte for sure
11/18/2005 10:12:03 AM
Well, maybe I didn't see enough of good spots in Charlotte but this is the only city where I saw a parking lot in front of a supermarket that had no paint on it used also as a cemetery. That was just bizzare.

OH OKwhat's a "big" city, land wise? how many square miles must a city be to be "big"DO TELL[Edited on November 18, 2005 at 1:46 PM. Reason : ^New York's actually only about 50 sq. miles bigger]
11/18/2005 1:42:12 PM

Charlotte is 241 square miles. Raleigh is 114, but really hasn't annexed any bordering cities to my knowledge but I've only lived here for 5+ years..It's retarded to judge a city by sq. mileage though. Boston is TINY. Probably 1/4 the sq. mileage of Raleigh even..[Edited on November 18, 2005 at 1:55 PM. Reason : f]

Bentlys is awsome! I got engaged there! It is expensive, but worth it! I think most things were around $30 and up a plate. I would highly suggest it, even for a later date!
