Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 900128MB Max. dynamically allocated shared RAM video memory
11/16/2005 5:21:59 PM
BTW I'm not a gamer or anything, but I would like to able to play new games if something comes out that interests me.
11/16/2005 5:23:46 PM
Good for what?Don't expect to be playing 3D-accelerated games at a decent frame rate or high resolutionbut if you don't play games, then sure, it's fine for just typical 2D use.
11/16/2005 5:24:35 PM
this is an integrated video card on your motherboard by the looks of itthey're alright, depending on which games you want to play. i doubt you'll be playing any bf2 or anything intense with that.
11/16/2005 5:25:08 PM
Alright for normal productivity use, sub par at best for gaming.
11/16/2005 5:27:01 PM
The other computer I'm looking at has only two different specs. One is that it has 70 more GB of hardrive, although HD isn't an issue on either one. The cheaper one has 250GB. The other difference is the second computer has an ATI Radeon X300. The price difference of the two computers is $200. Worth it?
11/16/2005 5:28:33 PM
It'll probably run something like Civ IV, but that's it. Maybe 5 fps on other games, if at all.
11/16/2005 5:31:08 PM
^^i don't think it's worth it. if it has a slot for a graphics card, you can get a decent one for less than 200
11/16/2005 5:32:44 PM
Is that ATI Radeon X300 good? Will it play all the games?
11/16/2005 5:35:11 PM
X300 aren't fantastic, but the difference between it and the Intel integrated graphics is the difference between being able to play new games at low settings and not being able to play them at all.But for a $200 premium, just get the cheaper PC and buy a $150 6600GT, which is a much, much better card.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 5:39 PM. 11/16/2005 5:37:52 PM
can you swap out a graphics card if it's integrated onto your motherboard?
11/16/2005 5:50:21 PM
When you put the card in, the onboard graphics are automatically disabled.Or should be, I should say.
11/16/2005 5:51:19 PM
packfootball, it sounds like you're buying the wrong computer list out what you want/need, price and shit and i'm sure someone can hook you up better than what you're going for.
11/16/2005 7:34:29 PM
^^^ not nescessarily. some computers have no AGP/PCIE video expansion slot. Yeah, give us your budget and needs and we can sniff out a good deal on a computer that'll do it for you. It'll probably be a dell or a computer we fround through slickdeals ot techbargains or something.

haha, i promise this isn't a VAIO Seriously though, it's a decent machine... It'll do pretty much everything you want, 'cept any real demanding gaming. Put another video card in for that and you'll be set.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 9:56 PM. Reason : yuppers]
11/16/2005 9:53:17 PM
well?
11/16/2005 9:53:22 PM
yeh it is a VAIO and I already know how u people feel about those, but what do you think about those specs, pretty badass huh?
11/16/2005 9:54:16 PM
I've got no beef with Sony, hell I'm probably their biggest supporter. When I was looking at the stats, i.LINK popped out at me. That's Sony for "firewire".
11/16/2005 9:58:55 PM
^so what do you think about that one?
11/16/2005 10:01:54 PM
^^^ I don't see the badass part. How much dinero is this thing? Thats the real question.\/ ooops, not enough of the ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^'s before[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 10:11 PM. Reason : ^^]
11/16/2005 10:03:43 PM
See my above post.
11/16/2005 10:09:39 PM
^^I guess I meant badass compared to what I have now. I'm not a gamer though, so I'm probably looking for something a little different than a lot of you. I might play a game like flight simulator occasionaly but thats about it.
11/16/2005 10:11:53 PM
I hear ya. Someone was asking me today if they should go buy a dual core processor and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. I'm no gamer either. Its your money. I'm still rocking a pair of 400sc's
11/16/2005 10:13:58 PM
Dual core has more benefits for content creators than gamers right now anyways, as games aren't optimized to take advantage of it. I mean, the first game I know that's supposed to take advantage of it is TES IV: Oblivion, and that's not out till february. So yeah, unless you're paying alot more to get a pentium D... go for it. Have something being encoded to mpeg in the background while you photoshop something else and you'll definately see the advantage of having a dual core processor.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 10:18 PM. I wouldn't spend $200 for an X300. We have on one the dell at home and it plays Most games at 1024x768, but you could get a 6800GS for $200 on newegg. It would rip an x300 apart.
11/16/2005 11:12:52 PM
^^^Agreed. nVidia pwns Ati.
11/16/2005 11:34:23 PM
11/16/2005 11:35:03 PM
^^^ yeah, x800 series from radeon, or Geforce 6600 series from nvidia will be a much better than that x300... and around the same price. sometimes it's best to just go with whatever the cheapest card the manufacturer offers, and upgrade it yourself. sometimes.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 11:36 PM. psh, get one of those dual gpu 7800's that aren't out yet were made in such small numbers as to be really hard to actually get. those are cool.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 11:44 PM. Reason : ]
11/16/2005 11:41:21 PM
Anything less than two dual gpu 7800s will not pwn all.You do want to pwn all, don't you?Is DDR2 different? Why would DDR PC3200 = 400MHz and DDR2 PC3200 = 533MHz?[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 11:48 PM. Reason : .]

you still haven't posted a price for this thing, so no one can really tell you if you should buy it or not. What is the price.
11/17/2005 3:05:57 AM
I will sell you my x800 pro 256mb pci-e video card for $100 as is or $140 with a very nice new fan on it (the fan died). OR $125 with a cheap stock replacement fan
11/17/2005 3:37:26 AM
75 as is
11/17/2005 4:03:09 AM
Answer, NO ... shared graphics mem is bad, intel video chipsets are bad

its on order, so this thread is pointless

lol i can play doom 3 on ultra quality at 5fps with my old radeon 7500please tell me graphics cards have come further than THAT since then

I'm going to hijack this thread for a second...Radeon X700 Pro or Radeon 9800 Pro? Ordered an X700 online during Black Friday and currently have a 9800 Pro. My brother is getting the "worse" of the two, I'm keeping the "better", which is which?[Edited on December 1, 2005 at 6:10 AM. Reason : .]
