my favorite was the power bomb
11/15/2005 12:54:23 PM
hughes is a helluva fighter, but he can't strike that well. Plus he has been fighting pussies. Most of those UFC guys are pussies. But there are some bad ass motherfuckers there as well. But the "real" fighting takes place in Pride Fighting. I seen Chuck Lidell get his ass gored there!!!

Ofcourse that looks good on paper. "paper champion". If u watch UFC u can easily see that some of those guys suck ass. That guy who he power bombed totally sucked!! whats your point?
11/15/2005 1:07:14 PM
that guy that he power bombed had beat almost every person in the Miletich Fighting Systems Camp...although i dont think he fought Jermemy Horn.if you didnt know, that guy that matt power bombed was the welterweight champion and matt was choked out when he did the PB (he actually didnt power bomb him, he was choked out and dropped him) it was a bad call on the ref's call, both men were out cold.Carlos Newton is/was no pussy and he IS a PRIDE fighter
11/15/2005 2:02:33 PM

Liddell dominated one or two pride fights. Alot of the pride fighters come from the UFC. The only reason to fight for pride is bigger purses. The downside is you fight infront of a billion 5'1 motherfuckersTaken from another post at another site "Plenty of UFC fighters have done well in Pride and vice versa. Pride fans should be kissing the UFC's ass for growing and developing the sport has much as it has. Right now, everyone is benefiting from the UFC's "inferior" events and fighters. Also, remember that it was the UFC that developed Silva, Henderson, and Sak before Pride ever signed them."[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 10:24 AM. Reason : a]

Pierre is a beast don't get me wrong... but... come on... against Hughes? he'd have to bring his A+ game

Experience—not strength, stamina or anything else—was the deciding factor in that first fight. GSP, a relatively inexperienced fighter, let his guard down at the end of the round and Hughes, a highly experienced fighter, seized the opportunity. Up until that point, GSP was winning the fight. For all the talk about Hughes’ strength and ground game, he still wasn’t able to keep GSP on the mat. Additionally, GSP is more athletic, has better stamina, and is better on his feet (as evidenced by GSP’s striking and his back-kick to Hughes’ abdomen). Honestly, I think the two fighters are of comparable physical strength.Barring a stupid mistake by GSP, Hughes’ only hope would be to keep the fight on the ground. Yet, Hughes was unable to do that in the first fight: Hughes couldn’t overpower GSP. In a rematch, GSP would either win by decision or TKO by strikes.[Edited on November 16, 2005 at 11:48 PM. that was one hell of a fighti dont think he would beat hughes in a rematch just b/c of matt's training regiment.that guy is insane when it comes to training...and i really couldnt tell that GSP was in better shape, but that kick to matt's mid was freaking awesome, you could tell that it got matt real good.

^Aside from the Pierre fight, it was a snoozer. Hughes owned his opponent easily...Franklin treated his opponent like a punching bag before viciously knocking him out...Jeremy Horn's fight was decent. And again we come back Georges St. Pierre...Pierre fought Sean Sherk, an individual who went five rounds with Matt Hughes to lose by decision. Sherk was supposed to overpower and out-wrestle Pierre. It was the other way around. Pierre owned the stand-up fight and took down Sherk at will. Pierre mounted Sherk; then reconstructed his face via elbows. Pierre landed an elbow directly on Sherk's nose; Sherk let out a yelp and his face opened up like a geyser. The ref stepped in at that point. That was in the second round. I'd like to know what was going through Sherk's mind in the above picture. Hughes and Pierre are head and shoulders better than everyone else in welterweight. Pierre would destroy any other contender, including BJ Penn. A Pierre v. Sanchez would be hilarious to watch though. [Edited on November 23, 2005 at 4:44 PM. Reason : edit]
