Should've hired back Spurrier instead.

It's too late now.

^^by somewhere, do you mean in illinois watching his fighting illini battle to what will culminate in a 2-9 season? ...granted, he walked into a losing situation, but still, i don't imagine zook is laughing at anything these days.

Florida's AD supposedly asked Spurrier to send him his resume. Spurrier told him to go out and look in his trophy case.

2-9 with Illinois is probably better than what they expected. I just dont think Florida gave him enough chance.

why do they think mike shanahan wants to coach at uf

because they aren't doing as well as they expected and they want a new coach. so like idiots, they think someone else wants to come there and take over. Kinda like us, we think we suck and it is Chucks fault so everyone says how all these other people want to come here and coach. Tis just a dream.

But if I was a coach that was being seriously persued by UF after this season, I wouldn't want the job. Look at their recent history. Fired Zook after not really giving him a chance, fired Meyer after really not giving him a chance. If I did anything short of win a NC i would be scared for my job.

^^ same reason people thought Rick Pitino would cream himself to coach at NC State.. like Louisville has no bball history or something.

Zook took over a program that was competing at the top of the SEC year-in, year-out. He went 8-5, 8-5, 7-4 (didn't coach the bowl game that year).

That's not good enough.

Yeah, but that's completely different.

When you take a job at a top program (especially following someone like Spurrier), you know how much pressure you're going to be under to perform. And when you fail, you should expect to get canned.

to his own credit, though, the SEC has been REALLY tough the past 3-5 years

he didn't even get to see his first recruits through to term, I think that's REALLY important in college football

nobody ever gives sendek that credit when they idiotically criticize how he stacks up against the rest of the nation's best conference every year

That crap makes all of us Florida Fans look horrible, probably just a few idiots
I totally support Meyer, and am happy so far, there's always a few bumps with a new coach,\
just hope we improve next season

I hope this is a joke. Meyer is great young coach and they are lucky as fuck to have him. I agree that he will have to tweak his system a bit, gimmic finesse shit wont work as well in the SEC as it did at Utah and Bowling Green but it will help when the team is based more on his style.

I really doubt it's a joke.

Quite a few UF fans went into the season expecting a national championship.

they are fools then. As much as they lost in the offseason, especially on Defense, they are probably doing better than they should have

after what happened to Auburn last year, no team in the SEC should expect a national championship....ever again...period.
