AM I RIGHT?

well, to his credit, it looks pretty much like hes throwing a stoneand our recievers look like they are catching a stone
11/12/2005 10:45:37 PM
no it pretty much looked like he tucked and ran or got sacked 8 times
11/12/2005 10:47:06 PM
i think it was 9
11/12/2005 10:48:35 PM
looks more like a terrible offensive line tonight...and the drop in the endzone hit him right between the numbersif jay had been playing those 8 sacks would have been for about 240 yards.

11/12/2005 10:49:49 PM
ROFL. stone worked miracles just to not get sacked on every play. jay would have thrown 6 picks
11/12/2005 10:50:45 PM
^agreed
11/12/2005 10:51:11 PM
he still sucksand thats just coaching
11/12/2005 10:51:52 PM
its coaching that the oline gave stone 1 second to get rid of the ball? i didnt know that. please elaborate
11/12/2005 10:52:44 PM
he doesnt know how to step up in the pocketwhen he sees one rusher hes to the sideline in .02 seconds
11/12/2005 10:53:32 PM
HE GOT SACKED 8 TIMES
11/12/2005 10:54:15 PM
sure ti wasnt 9?i though tit was 9, and then that last one didnt count cuz of the BC facemask^the pocket that he should be able to detect, there were pockets, but they dont last long when u run gassers as soon as you see a jersey with 'KIWI' on the back[Edited on November 12, 2005 at 10:55 PM. There was NO pocket...stepping to the side = not being sacked on every playwhich makes him better than jay right there.
11/12/2005 10:55:24 PM
there WERE pocketshe needs to make quicker decisionsi mean the oline is on rollerskates, but the axles arent that well greased[Edited on November 12, 2005 at 10:56 PM. Reason : f]

we looked for the deep ball in garbage time.We tried to play ball control for the wrong situation. We never controlled the line, which is not a good time to play ball control. We tried to sit back and wait for them to make mistakes, but they were not going to make mistakes if they can easily run for yards.Seemed like the wrong strategy for the wrong situation (Maybe when we were 10-0, but once they ran all over us, we should have rethought the strategy. Strategy should have gone out the window once were were down).[Edited on November 12, 2005 at 11:45 PM. Reason : dsf]

I like how Stone sucks it up like usual and we dont have a running back go for 200 yards and we lose. Stone got the credit for two wins that he didnt do anything.

I still dont understand why Hudson wasnt covering Will Blackmon...I thought Hudson is our best cover corner, and Blackmon was obviously their deep threat

Marcus Stone had ENOUGH time to throw the ball. I mean if you have enough time to pump fake and re-scan the WR's you have enough time. He looked uncomfortable in the pocket, he rushed his throws, and you could tell he was watching for the sack, he can't play like that. Now SOME of the plays he only had maybe a 2 second window but a few of those sacks he had time to pump fake, move a little, and then get creamed, so don't tell me it was entirely the O-Line's fault. I remember one play where Derrick Morris let Kiwi go inside(big no-no for OL unless it's a toss) and another play where I think Newby was tossed to the ground. But a lot of the other sacks could be acredited to Marcus Stone. One play he ran right to Kiwi for some reason and a few other times Morris had Kiwi behind the pocket and you can't expect him to block and all-american for more than 4-5 seconds. And when he DID have time to throw the ball, he really didn't throw but a handful of good passes, a lot of them were in the dirt, out of bounds, away from the WR's. But to his credit that pass to TJ Williams should have been a TD. He also shows some signs of his inexperience with that interception before the half costing us 7 points right there. That TD really took the air out of our team. This is why I was not sold on Marcus Stone, he has yet to put together a complete game, and last night he got rattled, and it showed. Without a run game to support him he is no better than Jay Davis. He has a better arm than Jay but Jay isn't afraid to throw the ball, interception or not, down by 2 TD's and he's tucking the ball every play we have about as much chance as we do throwing INT's.We should stick with Marcus the rest of the year for sure, get him some PT and hopefully some valuable experience since it doesn't look like we're bowl bound even with 6 wins.I hope Brent Schaffer was watching, and if not, I hope Justin Burke can come in and be solid.[Edited on November 13, 2005 at 10:22 AM. ^^So why do you bash Jay Davis so much b/c if it isnt Stone's fault, how could it be Davis's in all of those games.
11/13/2005 11:37:13 AM
It would be a hard call, but I think we maybe should have put Jay in last night. When the run is working... play Stone. Jay at least gives us SOME downfield threat. Even if it's an INT, he's not afraid to throw it. Stone is. It's obvious, especially after getting down on the scoreboard BIG, that we had to establish a pass. They were clogging the line and pass blitzing every down becuase they knew that we had a QB afraid to throw it. 99% of that game was the OLine's fault... but I do think that our coaching staff should have told Marcus to throw the damn ball.... if it's picked off, so what? We've got to try. It seems they never did, and Marcus Stone just took off with his feet nearly every playI just want to know where the 3-step drop slant passes were last night. It seemed like we were running routes that were waaaay to deep for the amount of pressure they were getting

I watched the entire game and I watched the OL extinsively following the first few sacks. Most of the sacks were indeed the line's fault, but some of them were Marcus' fault. I mean one play he see's the pressure from the left, and runs THAT WAY?? I mean c'mon, how is the line suppose to keep Kiwi off of you when you run right at him, that was just a stupid play by Marcus. And 3 seconds should be enough to throw the ball since we run short routes for the most part, so when Marcus has time to scan the WR's, even pump fake, and still take a sack, that isn't the line's fault, they're job is to give the QB 3-4 seconds, not all day. Marcus was indecisive, he was scared, and it showed. The OL got out-played, but you can't blame Marcus' poor performance completely on the line. Some plays he rolled out and had plenty of time and he threw it in the dirt, that is just pathetic. The OL didn't help the running game, but neither did Chuck. You don't alternate RB's like he did last night, the RB can't get any type of flow or momentum going. Andre Brown, 1 rush for 9 yards, another rush stuffed, and he takes him out. WHY?!? He has to get a feel for the game and get his legs going, and you can't do that playing 2 drives, going out for 2 drives, and then going back in.I'm not taking the blame off the OL, they didn't play up to the level they had the last 2 weeks, but you can't say it's completely their fault. I'd say 50% OL, 30% Chuck, 10% Marcus Stone, 10% AJ Davis.

35% Coach Barry35% OLine talent10% AJ Davis10% Stone10% TJ Williams (That damn drop turned the tide in the game)I wont bitch at AJ. He saved us last week. TJ is the man, but he needs to catch the easy ones. Stone is trying his hardest, but the OLine isn't blocking for him... he's just go to learn to scramble and pass or scramble and throw it away. Don't run unless it'll get the first or you can get decent yards... in other words... dont try to evade pressure by running, you're gonna get caught at the college level.... get outside the lines after the snap and be prepared to throw the damn ball awayUltimately, it starts at the top. It's 100% on Chuck. I'm not jumping on the "Fire Chuck" wagon. There's more positives than negatives and he's done a lot of great things.... he just needs to address the OLine and review Coach Barry's job after this season[Edited on November 13, 2005 at 12:42 PM.
