I know that you can do dual monitor setups with a dual port video card, or a single DVI port on a computer. But can you do multiple desktops with a card with 1 vga port and a monitor splitter cable using VGA. It's the one situation I've never run into.

you can do multiple desktops. that's different than multiple monitors. there's a windows powertoy that can do multiple desktops like linux.a splitter just splits the same signal. so no.[Edited on November 11, 2005 at 8:17 AM. Reason : \/ cool]

multiple desktops is what I meant. sorry it's early. Guy wants to use multiple desktops off his laptop with one of the plasma TV's for a demo. He only has a VGA port on the back. Before I went and got one of the splitters I wanted to make sure.Thanks.

well you can have multiple desktops but with the splitter, you are still going to be seeing the same desktop on both monitors.http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/DeskmanPowertoySetup.exelaptops can do dual monitor setups but i don't know if you can show different desktops on different monitors. i think the multiple desktop tool was made for people who only have one monitor.[Edited on November 11, 2005 at 8:21 AM. It could do it fine. Basically the setup is like I have but I have a DVI port and wasn't sure if VGA could do the same thing. It could im set... all is well.
