that thing got a hemi?
11/10/2005 11:11:20 PM
why hells yeah -two to be exact
11/10/2005 11:13:34 PM
i got the yellow scorpion. Haven't really had a good place to test it out and do many mods with it yet. I did find a funny video of one in action though. for now, i tried taking the shocks totally off, but it made the front sit unlevel and it didn't climb as well, so i took the springs off the shocks and put them back on, for now its a happy compromise between climbing and flex. i'm sure before too long it won't be much left on the original. I have been looking for some bigger tires though
11/11/2005 11:37:58 AM
yeah, I have made use of my half grand worth of textbooks as an obstacle - and making a movie of that..... I'm thinking of cutting off a few coils to take the preload off the springs.... my roomie had suggested buying another one and swapping out the rear drivetrain for the front of the other - making all-wheel steering, but I'm not so sure its worth buying another. I think the body of mine will get the most of the modificaitons
11/11/2005 1:14:15 PM
off topic, but you still wanting to sell your bike?
11/11/2005 1:34:23 PM
ive got Toyotafj40s coming to look at it over T-giving break.... he seems to be wanting it.....
11/11/2005 2:19:59 PM
yeah but im one impulsive mofo so if someone else wants to buy it go ahead. i still will be looking at it over tgiving break though... just if someone else comes along that is cool i wont mind.by impulsive i mean im not really sure what kind of bike i want. i found a wrecked 1000gsxr for sale and that seems interesting but so does the hawk... so i usually have a hard time making up my mind, although im very interested in the hawk.thanksKyle[Edited on November 11, 2005 at 3:23 PM. 11/14/2005 12:22:50 AM
I need to get back on my projects. TLT-1 with a streched wheelbase and a TXT-1.
11/14/2005 12:26:28 AM
oh man "if you can read this, then roll me over" sticker is awesome. HAHA
11/14/2005 12:42:25 AM
lol this thing kicks. i think u need to put a snorkel on it for crossing those rain puddles
11/14/2005 12:49:45 AM
Wonder if you can gear it down.
11/14/2005 1:22:25 AM
THATS FRIGGIN AWESOMEdo they have any in Red?
11/14/2005 9:56:29 AM
i think its just an orange jeep and a yellow scorpion buggy
11/14/2005 10:33:34 AM
it has a high and low range selector for each axle, and the low is plenty low for that tire size, and in high range, it will really go as well
11/14/2005 11:07:58 AM
that thing is bad ass
11/14/2005 12:08:45 PM
we took ours apart painted it played with it till we broke it then returned it
11/14/2005 12:29:01 PM
looks like it has way too much lift or needs bigger tires
11/14/2005 12:30:35 PM
well you can modify the suspension so it has enough travel to hit the fenders.... we did @leastbtw... the thing actually has functional beadlocks [Edited on November 14, 2005 at 12:33 PM. Reason : .]
11/14/2005 12:32:58 PM
best thing to do when you first get 'em to have some fun is take the body off, then remove the "coil-overs." The springs really hurt it, w/o the springs, you can do some pretty fun stuff
11/14/2005 1:37:23 PM
is it regular batter or recharge batter?i know what i'm wasting my money on

11/14/2005 2:30:51 PM
hahah i actually have an hpi rs4 mt thing is fast and just as good driving over stuff as my roomate's walmart special was.
11/14/2005 2:51:42 PM
yeah, but the wal-mart specials are only $40.
11/14/2005 2:59:20 PM
if it's rechargeable ill pick one up later this week
11/14/2005 4:44:03 PM
aren't they 1/8th scale? or somethingi know the one my roomate had had the friggin battery out of a barbie/gi joe jeep thingy in it can you say pow pow powerwheels
11/14/2005 5:01:36 PM
they sell a 1:18 for $45ish and a 1:6 for ~$150 and both are rechargeable, this one is the small one
11/14/2005 6:05:13 PM
ohhhh we got the big one.we've broke 3 but... walmart will happily take them backi swear Rodney Carrington was right you could take used diapers back and say "these diapers already had shit in them" and i bet they'd replace them or give you your money back.
11/14/2005 6:08:24 PM
the small ones are supposed to be way more reliable than the 1:6 ones, i hear about a lot of axle problems with the large ones
11/14/2005 6:13:32 PM
yeah nylon gears suck... but damn if it wasn't cool
11/15/2005 2:22:42 AM
that axium thing was hilarious
11/15/2005 9:56:37 AM
rock rashhas anyone tried cutting the treads to get better traction....
11/16/2005 1:05:38 AM
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/I cut the tires on my tlt before... didn't end up so hot
11/16/2005 1:19:23 AM
i jsut picked one up today, i got the scorpion buggy. Already removed the rear springs, flipped the rubber, and cut a few links out of the front springs. I might extend the wheelbase a little, but i dont think i need to but maybe a half inch to clear the radius arms from the axle.
11/17/2005 10:55:59 PM
we should meet on campus for some crawlingme and adam have learned that cutting 1/4" to 3/8" on rear springs and 3/8"+ on the front do nicely for stock suspension componentsWe are currently in the market for another front axle assembly, so if anyone has one...
11/18/2005 12:50:26 AM
i completely removed my rear shocks...flexes insane, but it thends to pull the axle under the rig on steep climbs so i need to put them back in. Im still trying to figure out a way to maybe move the shocke inward though so it will flex better.
11/18/2005 8:34:19 AM
i might get one, but i'd feel silly 'cause i work at an actual hobby store in Apexbut I can't drive my savage all the time (or racecars either)
11/18/2005 12:38:23 PM
11/18/2005 12:58:05 PM
friction, i highly doubt there is any oil in those. heck even "hobby" quality r/c stuff may not come with oil on cheaper rtrwell off to drive my rc10b3 at a track my bud just built in Fuquay
11/18/2005 1:00:59 PM
i know they arent really shocks...i just called them that
11/18/2005 1:38:04 PM
Are there any good hobby shops around here? Im gonna go see if i can find some better tires.
11/18/2005 2:41:58 PM
hungates at the mall?
11/18/2005 2:51:18 PM
is that at Crabtree?
11/18/2005 3:27:46 PM
There's an entire post on Jeeps Unlimited where guys lifted, lengthened the wheelbase, painted, etc. to those things.
11/18/2005 5:28:49 PM
11/18/2005 5:48:22 PM
I think huntgates is the worst for r/c. In gereral I think Huntgates will have more total hours open because its in the mall, but they don't have much for parts at all.I would try Hobbymasters in Raleigh or Apex Hobbies (I think cheerwhiner works here).
