though it might be something they've already looked into...but a helicopter ride. my parents just got back from hawaii (like last friday) and they took this amazing helicopter ride and got some great pictures

if you don't have a lot of $ to spend, you could get them stuff for the plane trip (it's REALLY long)

maybe make them a care package for the plane with magazines, some snacks, maybe crossword puzzles, and you could even make them CDs to listen to.

They have a camera & plenty of magazines, but a Spa or Helicoptor tour would be a great idea. I'm actually not sure which Island it is, because my mother hasn't told me much, since it's going to be a surprise to my Dad, but I imagine it's either Maui or the big Island.
