Is it just me or does NCSU basketball and football schedule the easiest teams ever?
11/10/2005 12:46:49 AM
We got screwed in football this year because of all the teams changing conferences, making TV deals, etc. and had to pick up last-minute games.Basketball, we play a mix of good and bad, just like anybody does.
11/10/2005 12:49:22 AM
mix of good and bad??? Uncg is the second toughest non-conference game we have
11/10/2005 12:51:34 AM
AlabamaNDIowaand GWU and Seton Hall could put up a fight.
11/10/2005 12:53:18 AM
we play iowa, notre dame, and alabama OOC. which two of those are worse than UNC-G
11/10/2005 12:53:20 AM
Herb is a pussyHe insists that the ACC schedule is tough enough that we need some easy OOC wins to even things out.
11/10/2005 12:53:24 AM
good call, i missed GW and SH when i was lookin at the schedule. both of those are also better than unc-g
11/10/2005 12:54:08 AM
shut upwe have THE HARDEST conference schedule of any conferencelearn that, then get back here and tell me the real deal...its ok to have panzies
11/10/2005 12:54:11 AM
It usually is.But sometimes the "easy win" thing can backfire on a team (Santa Clara?)
11/10/2005 12:54:24 AM
every team plays bad teams. when you play in the ACC, there's no sense hurtin your chances at the tourney by playin more good teams than you need to. our OOC this year is much tougher than usual i think
11/10/2005 12:55:02 AM
Seton Hall blows UNCG would beat them trust me
11/10/2005 12:55:46 AM
^^which is sadIts a pain in the ass to have to wait until February before we play some real competition.[Edited on November 10, 2005 at 12:56 AM. Reason : 1]
11/10/2005 12:56:15 AM
what in the hell are you talking about. we play Notre Dame, Alabama (who last i checked is pretty good), we play a tough Iowa team in the ACC/Big 10 challenge, an up and coming George Washington team who is ranked 21st by the AP preseason poll and a favorite to win the A-10.[Edited on November 10, 2005 at 12:57 AM. It's actually interesting how we schedule teams. We don't tend to play the traditional powers (Kansas, UConn, Kentucky, etc.), but we do tend to schedule teams that are good that year.So if you go by just the names, yes, our schedules usually look pretty weak.
11/10/2005 12:57:49 AM
What do GWU, Seton Hall, Iowa, and notre dame all have in common???non will make the tourney this year, their preason rankingis (if they are ranked is ludacris)
11/10/2005 12:58:03 AM
shut up and learn to spell
11/10/2005 12:59:04 AM
come back here when you can actually spell ludicrous correctly. i'm normally not mean on here to anyone, but you really are talking out of your ass on this one.
11/10/2005 12:59:53 AM
NCSU isn't making the NCAA tourney this year PERIOD
11/10/2005 1:00:33 AM
HEY HOW COME STATE SUCKS AND THEY PLAY DUMB TEAMS AND CANT WIN AND ARENT GOOD...Y DUE WE NOT PLAY 2006 CHAMP THIS SEASON
11/10/2005 1:01:05 AM
why would we want to schedule traditional powers when we have to play UMD, WFU, Duke and UNC all of which are traditional powers in bball. we don't need to schedule Syracuse or Louisville, when we've got our own heavyweights to deal with in the ACC.
11/10/2005 1:02:19 AM
alias? dumbass?i dunno but #2 def. appliesshut up, IBTL!
11/10/2005 1:02:20 AM

11/10/2005 1:02:26 AM
Maybe if we didn't schedule cupcakes we might be ready for some acc teams for once
11/10/2005 1:03:37 AM

what a maroonfire herb sequence commencing in 5...4...3...and if you think Iowa, ND, and Bama arent tourney teams, then I dont know where the fuck you get your bball info. ESPN and Sportsline have been blowing Bama's cock this offseason. They've got something, I bet theyll be top 10 when we play them at their place. GW, Iowa, and Bama are all preseason top 20 in the AP poll. We dont play UNC's OOC schedule, but we play a pretty good one for major conference teams. The RPI will be up there regardless as long as we hang around the top 5 in the ACC, so who cares?[Edited on November 10, 2005 at 1:49 AM. Reason : .]

With that said, who else is excited about the HISPANIC COLLEGE FUND CLASSIC!?Stetson! The Citadel! Deleware! Just checked the HCFC, G-Town and Oregon are in it too, and get to play each other in Eugene. Stetson gets to play at two different sites, as do the mighty SAVANNAH STATE TIGERS. Looks like we get the short end and get stuck at home playing noone of note. Bleh.[Edited on November 10, 2005 at 1:59 AM. Reason : .]

any chance to stand and see my team play gets me hype, bring 'em on.
11/10/2005 1:59:55 AM
FYI, we have a home and home scheduled with Cincinnati over the next two years. We were scheduled in the 2007 Preseason NIT, but Boston College was as well, and you can only have 1 team from a conference. Why BC was favored over us as the ACC team I dont know, considering they originally entered into this waving the Big East flag.
11/10/2005 9:05:02 AM
We're @ #20 Iowa, @ #14 Bama, and home vs #24 GW, along with unranked Notre Dame on a neutral court and Seton Hall at homeCompared with Duke, who plays @ #3 Texas and @ #22 Indiana along with unranked St. John's, Temple, and GeorgetownCompared with UNC-Ch, who plays #17 Illionois, @ #10 Kentucky, #9 Arizona, along with unranked Southern Cal in LACompared with Wake, who plays unranked Wisconsin, DePaul, and CharlotteLooks to me like our schedule is one of the better ones in the Big 4. The rest of the teams on the Big 4's OOC sched are cupcakes, because you have to play a certain amount of them to pad the win column, because unless you're UNC-Ch, you will not get into the dance playing all good teams OOC and struggling just to get a 15-13 record.
11/10/2005 10:02:09 AM
^^So any idea when our next shot at the PreNIT will be?^I really want to go to the Illinois @ UNC game. Support the state I was born in (And second choice of University) with a orange shirt and my red NC State hat. [Edited on November 10, 2005 at 10:11 AM. Reason : ^^]
11/10/2005 10:10:32 AM
^^^I think it's because BC was scheduled to be in it before we were, so they took the ACC spot by first-come-first-serve.
11/10/2005 10:20:44 AM
this guy is an idiot
11/10/2005 10:25:32 AM
Ok, theres a BIG difference between playing Kentucky and Arizona and playing George Washington and Alabama. Oooh, a football school with an overhyped bball team and a team from the Atlantic 10. Theres a matter of respect. We play a schedule just right for a team that will lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Sucks that we probably will.
11/10/2005 11:02:40 AM
^ Well then Duke must be playing one suited for a NIT team
11/10/2005 11:23:32 AM
11/10/2005 12:12:03 PM
A lot of the traditional big names are pretty weak right now.I mean, Kansas lost to Bucknell in the first round last year. Kentucky lost one of their best players and a second probably won't be back until January.I'd much rather play schools that look to be good this year (like last year, when we played @UW and against WVU) than just go on name recognition.
11/10/2005 12:20:03 PM
I dont' mind playing games like thoseI friggin HATE games against teams like Villanova, George Washington, Charlotte, etc. becuase if you win... you were supposed to win. If you lose, it looks terrible becuase they're pretty much nobodies. People don't realize how good these teams really are. If we're gonna play a tough team, I'd rather it be like a Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia, etc. Teams that are well known... not one of these A-10 teams who will take it to some unsuspecting ACC team
11/10/2005 12:22:52 PM
True, I guess it would look bad that we lost to UDub and WVU to someone who didn't follow college basketball closely...but it's a little easier for me to accept those losses when you realize that UDub went on to be a 1-seed and WVU made the Sweet 16.
