Pipe dream: maybe.*IF*we beat BC, MTSU, and Maryland and finish 7-4 with a strong finish, what bowl do you guys see us getting? What if VT(who is ranked in BCS 6th AFTER their loss) gets a BCS at large berth, and FSU gets one for winning the championship. That puts Miami in the Peach, and either BC or State in Gator, right?

somebody's tire bowl[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 1:07 PM. Reason : we've discussed this 88239047823 times. put the pipe down.]
11/9/2005 1:07:01 PM
So we're 7-4, have won the last 4 in a row(2 against ranked opponents), and we're tire bowling?
11/9/2005 1:08:08 PM
yes
11/9/2005 1:10:53 PM
or perhaps an equivalent to the micron PC bowl
11/9/2005 1:13:21 PM
it's actually not that crazy...if we win out, here is the situation....http://www.ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=476121
11/9/2005 1:15:44 PM
and its possible for fsu to lose out. then them and clemson would have 5 losses. who would the gator bowl pick then? ncstate or georgia tech
11/9/2005 1:24:41 PM
who knows
11/9/2005 1:26:35 PM
The gator bowl will most likely not choose NC State. The only thing that would make them even think twice about it was the fact that we completely TOOK OVER Jacksonville and spent lots of $$$ while down there a few years ago. Man that game was so awesome, I would definately drive down there again, in a heartbeat. But I think Gator Bowl is just a little too ambitious.
11/9/2005 1:27:58 PM
yeah, i just want to beat boston college
11/9/2005 1:28:57 PM
me too... but most of all Maryland. I frickin' hate Maryland and most of their fans, the most disrespectful and just plain asshole fans and players I've ever seen State play. Even UNC fans tend not to be obnoxious as the damn Turtleheads. How bout that time they threw oranges on our field while the game was still going on!?!
11/9/2005 1:32:25 PM
i don't think the gator bowl would be really excited to invite back the loser of the acc championship game. Plus, with the money we spent last time, if the gator has an opportunity to choose us, like if its us or ga tech, im thinking we could be gator bound. That's a bunch of big if's though...lets win out and see where the chips fall.
11/9/2005 1:33:09 PM
^ I read that post and read it again because I didn't see any virulent negativity towards state. Then i realized that you weren't phishnloser
11/9/2005 1:34:31 PM
As I posted yesterday IF the Pack can take care of BC and UMD and finish out 7-4 with a little bit of help they could go to the Peach no problem. We would need to send two teams to the BCS this being the biggest help we would need.FSU beats ClemUNC lose to UMD and VTUMD beats UNC and loses to the Pack the outcome of the BC does not matter because we would be picked over both of themUVA loses to VT the GT game could go either way because I do not see GT beating UGA and even if they did the Peach is not going to take a team that we have beat as the Home town team.GT see aboveFSU and UM play in theACC champ game with the winner and either loser or vt going to the BCS and the third team going to the Gator. That leaves us at 7-4 and the best option because we bring the most fans and we also have not been to the Peach since 95 or 96.Possible teams we might play would be AUB, LSU, USC (Gamecocks) and an outside shot at Tenn depending on how they end up.
11/9/2005 1:36:43 PM
The ACC is NOT getting 2 BCS teams. We're going to Boise if we win out.Book your tickets now.
11/9/2005 2:20:36 PM
you want to put a friendly side bet on that if we win out we are on the blue turf? At worst if we win out we are in Char. if not in the Champs bowl in Fl.[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:31 PM. Reason : .]
11/9/2005 2:24:15 PM
FOr real, who wants to go if we get a trip to Boise? I'm all there.
11/9/2005 2:26:02 PM
The ACC should get 2 into the BCS, because Miami & VT should win out in the remaining regular season. That would pretty much lock up VT & the Miami/FSU winner. That is unless UT loses in the Big 12 Championship, which takes their spot. Also, if UNC beats MD & Duke, they probably will get the Gator bid, unfortunately, as that'd give them 5 conference W's, unless VT doesn't get a BCS, which they should. The ACC championship loser is most likely going to the Peach, which probably puts us in Orlando or Charlotte.[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:35 PM. Reason : ]
11/9/2005 2:27:19 PM
If Notre Dame Wins out, which they will, they're in the BCS.Miami could get in with the VT/FSU winner.... but would need no upsets (TX, USC) in the process. If UNC and us are bowling, They go to Charlotte, and we go to Boise or orlando for the game formerly known as tangerine. But if we're bowling, we do so at 6-5 anyway.
11/9/2005 2:32:21 PM
I just want to be in a bowl, I don't care which one
11/9/2005 2:34:07 PM
I hope we go to the Poinsetta Bowl in San Diego
11/9/2005 2:35:45 PM
^^^Miami has the tiebreaker over VT. VT would be the at large.[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:36 PM. Reason : ^]
11/9/2005 2:35:57 PM
either way... If we're bowling, we're going to Boise.Book your tickets now.So VT could get in with the Miami/FSU winner. My bad.VT won't get in over LSU. Or UCLA if they beat USC. Or USC if they lose. Or Texas if they lose. Or Oregon. etc etc[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:40 PM. Reason : edit]
11/9/2005 2:38:38 PM
^^It doesn't work that way.
11/9/2005 2:47:31 PM
Those are big if's though. VT doesn't have it locked up by any means, but they are certainly right there. I don't see USC or UT losing. LSU still has to play Bama. Oregon I don't see happening either. Really the only likely way VT would be skipped is if OSU wins out.[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:55 PM. Reason : ]

at large berth
11/9/2005 2:51:15 PM
^^^
11/9/2005 2:52:30 PM
Oh fuckYou do realize that there is a conference championship game, right? So this whole tiebreaker discussion is irrelevant with respect to the BCS bid?
11/9/2005 2:55:04 PM
Ya, it is. The team that loses the tiebreaker is the team that is up for the BCS at large bid. If they have the tiebreaker, they'll get in by winning the championship. Sheesh.[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 2:57 PM. Reason : ]

11/9/2005 2:57:04 PM
k I thought you were trying to say something else.
11/9/2005 3:00:42 PM
this isnt that complicated, it really depends on what happens this weekend. If clemson loses to fsu and wake loses to miami and we win out we will finish 2nd in the atlantic division. and after talking to some of the peach bowl reps at the fsu game, they are very interested in us. now that is assuming that all goes according to plan and we win out and we get the other losses we need.
11/9/2005 3:48:29 PM
that sounds complicated
11/9/2005 3:49:46 PM
If Miami wins out and V Tech wins out, they will both be in the BCS. Miami as conference champion and V Tech as a top four BCS team (they are currently ranked 6th.) The only way V Tech doesn't make BCS is if two teams in front of them don't lose. Bama will not go undefeated. If Miami loses to FSu in the championship game, Tech would go as an at large and FSU goes as conference champ.
11/9/2005 4:04:16 PM
I think it's VERY unlikely that we end up in the Peach, because too many things have to happen in just the right order, the tallest order of which (IMO) is VaTech getting an at-large BCS bid. As I've said in another thread, my take on the whole mess:we win out--if we're lucky, Champs Sports Bowl (Orlando); if we're not as lucky, Meineke Bowl (Charlotte).we lose to BC and beat MTSU and UMD--blue turf.we beat BC and MTSU and lose to UMD--home for the holidays even though we'd be eligible.
11/9/2005 4:15:16 PM
Dang guys, let's focus on GETTING a bowl before we start worrying how nice the bowl will be. If we beat BC, THEN we should start looking at bowls.
11/9/2005 4:17:09 PM
One of the guys on the football team said that the Tire Bowl will offer us if we are eligible because NCSU travels so well, I would say the tire bowl would be our best bet, but I would much rather be in the Peach bowl
11/9/2005 4:45:05 PM
I don't care where we go, but i'm pretty sure if we are bowl eligible we'll go somewhere. It might come down to us getting one because fans here travel well, but I'm gonna say we'd definetly get somewhere if we're bowl eligible

11/9/2005 6:13:48 PM
Heck Yes I Care Where We Go!!! I want to go to the game!! I am not trying to go to freakin Idaho, what a lame place! Take me to Orlando or Atlanta, or at least let me commute the day of the game to Charlotte! HECK NO I DONT WANNA GO! I DONT WANNA GO TO IDAHO!! Staying out of Idaho should be motivation enough for the players and coaching staff to win out!

11/10/2005 1:53:31 AM
The biggest IF in the whole Peach bowl scenario is that we beat BC this weekend. If we do that, most likely the other pieces will fall in. The only other iffy part is VT getting the at-large berth, and like we've said, even after the loss to Mami, they're still 6th in the BCS, which is what counts.
11/10/2005 10:02:25 AM
The Maryland game's an "if," too. We don't have a good record at home the last two years, and if UMD were to actually show up and play (for once this season) they could potentially be very good.
11/10/2005 10:25:00 AM
11/10/2005 10:33:36 AM
Hahahaha, true. That's what I've been saying all year.
11/10/2005 10:35:24 AM
Why dont we just predict what bowl we will make next year?
11/10/2005 11:19:24 AM
yeah cmon fans how dare you look ahead a couple games and talk about the possibilities for your team fucking idiots
11/10/2005 11:42:56 AM
no it's just silly to predict what bowl we might make when we aren't even bowl eligible yetmight as well predict what bowl we'll make in 2017there are plenty of games left to play
