Well, when, even after the long list of parental failures etc., there is no immediate disincentive to the attack.....who should be surprised? And what would be an immediate disincentive? Oh I don't know....I'm gonna go with potential victims who at least aren't guaranteed to be defenseless. People don't pick armed targets.Mass/multiple shootings will always occur predominately when the criminal is all but guaranteed success with no immediate consequence (gun-free zones).

Reminds me of those essays where someone asks God why he didn't stop the school shootings and he's all, "I'm not allowed in school."Makes God look like a petty little bitch.

yeahGod said that It starts with the parents and ends with all the fuckwads in the media that convince these parents that they can raise their children better than the parent.

im reading a great book on this right now. but to put it in a nutshell, no one reason supports rampage school shootings (ie numerous and sometimes random victims). it isnt bullying, mental illness, violent games, access to guns, bad parenting etc. rather it is a combination of some of these factors as well as the social and organizational problems of schhols (not just preps n jocks but also organization of school administration) and rural/suburban communites (this is a suburban/rural problem rarely an urban one) and also the desire not to label kids. all of these things combined lead to a school rampage, but they are still very rare and thus many kids who display syptoms and problems dont actually commit them. so rather than being able to say X causes Y, we can really only say A,B,C,D,E have X,Y,Z in common.also, paranoia and labeling leads to more false positives than preventions, so it is really hard to predict who will actually do it. the only real prevention is to collect evidence once a plan is in motion[Edited on November 9, 2005 at 9:08 AM.
