Yeah, I know some people find them hideous. But I love the way it looks and a Base model is in my price range (even though I would Love a Hemi, dont have a Hemi Salary yet)I wanted to know the general feeling about them in regards to performance and repairs if anyone has any opinions and/or experience. So far I have went through the Sales pitch atHendrick -- Good Guys, but a strong armed sales pitch that kind of got on my nerves, but I had a better feeling about them whn I left.and Westgate -- Kinda felt like the salesperson was in a rush, and just wanted me to sign papersI might make a trip out to Chris Leith as well.Any opinions about these dealerships and their service would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

so basically you want a big RWD sedan and don't care that much about handling? If thats the case go for it.
11/7/2005 3:41:30 PM
The main thing is having a car that is a comparable size to what I am currently driving. (89 Maxima). With a proper price range, and decent looking. In my head, the cars that fir that criteria are Maxima, Altima, 300c and the Charger.Maxima and the 300 kind of drop out early because they are a little more than I would like to spend, and there are way to many of them on the road already. And I like the look of the Charger much moreso than the Altima.Any suggestions for cars in this "Class" are appreciated. And the dealers always paint the RWD to be a GOOD thing
11/7/2005 3:51:44 PM
I thought you had a newer Impala?
11/7/2005 3:56:12 PM
what's the price range? mid-20's?does the base model charger come with a v6?How about a pontiac GTO

Is it that one in the lot with the shitty alarm system?
11/7/2005 4:04:53 PM
Yeah, it does come with a V6. Thats the other prereq I forgot.
11/7/2005 4:08:20 PM
i have a 2005 maxima and love it - you can get a slightly used 2004 in your price range though it sounds like - the torque steer isn't too bad - but it definitely does need a rear anti-sway bar added for handling
11/7/2005 4:16:01 PM
maxima is a good choice. good for the money and a little bit faster then a stock 350z (not the 300hp limited edition).
11/7/2005 6:42:13 PM
^^^^^of course they did, it's what they were selling... just like acura did with your teg at the time when everything was fwd, it was better for the u.s. market. people didn't care about performance. for the majority of people, it still is better.
11/7/2005 7:17:29 PM
I know this isn't about the styling of the new Charger, but man...they need to make them two door with a hood that is longer than 3 feet.
11/7/2005 7:37:12 PM
Yeah, the Maximas are awesome, but like you mentioned. They value isnt that much less than a Base charger. If im going to spend that much, I would feel more comfortable w/ a brand new vehicle.Someone wanna break down the whole RWD v. FWD debate for me?And yeah, the chargers front end is short for such a long car.
11/7/2005 8:52:35 PM
very generalizedRWD: more 'fun', better handling, better "race car"FWD: easier to control in rain/snow, better for an everyday grocery-car
11/7/2005 8:56:26 PM
Charger sounds like a good call to me, for your purposes anyway. Snow is hardly an issue around here. You can get away with never driving in the snow... everything just shuts down. Few expect you to go to work in the snow around here.[Edited on November 7, 2005 at 10:54 PM. Reason : .]

good because in 2008 they will be police cars due to the discontinuing of the crown vic

contact MaxxedOut95He is a sales person at a dodge place.
11/7/2005 11:02:48 PM

I'm actually not dodge certified so I can't sell from our dodge store....but I'll still take care of the guy especially after a bad experience at a dealership that we own. On the subject of maxima though, if we havent sold it to the nissan store or anything I do have a used 04 that I just got in.
11/8/2005 9:59:33 AM
You don't seem too performance minded, but I would still check out the 04 GTO. I've seen brand new 05's go as low as 27k out the door because no one wants them. An 04 with <5000 miles on it can be had for ~$23k. With that you get a cadillac quality interior and C5 level performance[Edited on November 8, 2005 at 10:30 AM. Reason : the last one was for oep11]
11/8/2005 10:26:41 AM
i like that red interior...
11/8/2005 10:39:13 AM
Just in case my initial post came out wrong, I didnt have a BAD experience at Westgate, it just wasnt as GOOD as the one I had at Hendrick. ANd even that could be left up to interpretation, peoples feelings about different selling styles may vary.Just wanted to clear that up because I didnt want to sour anyone from dealing with them.On the other hand, MICHEAL JORDAN NISSAN, is full of crap.
11/8/2005 11:57:06 AM
I like the GTO.. I think it's pretty awesome; dunno why it's not doing so hotand apparently cheaper than 350z etc
11/8/2005 12:18:47 PM
11/8/2005 12:19:56 PM
well i guess it might do a bit better as a Holden or something
11/8/2005 12:28:48 PM
its called crappy mundane styling.
11/8/2005 12:36:35 PM
I just got a $500 off coupon for the Charger, good until Jan, 2nd. If you do purchase one and want the sales code, let me know.
11/8/2005 1:10:43 PM
11/8/2005 1:36:36 PM
I always thought it looked more like a european car then classic american.....could be turning people off to the styling
11/8/2005 3:19:55 PM
I don't think the problem with the GTO is as much its "European-ness" as the fact that it's just bland. There is nothing exciting about the styling of the car. Similarity to Cavalier/Sunfire was accidental, considering that the car was in production in Austraila for some time before traveling here.
11/8/2005 4:49:45 PM
All I have to offer is this- my boss just bought a new '05 magnum RT with the hemi, 18" wheels, and leather for $28k.
