Think about it, even if we qualify for a bowl, We are behind Miami, Va Tech, UNC, Virginia, Boston College, Florida State, and Georiga Tech....That means 7 teams have to get bowl bids before us, and even if we win out and carolina has a worse record, at best we are number 5 or 6, it is not looking good! Sorry to be the downer, I hope someone convinces me I'm wrong!
11/6/2005 11:51:29 AM
if we win out, we will
11/6/2005 11:54:35 AM
that doesn't mean anything. Some bowls can choose from more than 1 team. There is an article in the paper today about the Peach Bowl interested in us if we win out...
11/6/2005 11:54:46 AM
ahamost undeserving peach bowl team evar
11/6/2005 11:56:46 AM
They look at more than just who is ahead of us in the conference. We played Va Tech well, have only been blown out one time, and if we beat FSU, BC, and Maryland we will look like a team with a ton of momentum and a good traveling fan base(which we have had in the past).IF we win out and make it to 7-4 on the season I do believe we get a bowl. But I'm not looking that far yet, we have a pissed off BC team, and a Maryland team that over the past few years has become pretty much a football rival for us.
11/6/2005 11:57:56 AM
^^^^^We aren't behind UNC, we have the same record[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 11:59 AM. Reason : .]
11/6/2005 11:58:40 AM
I think if we beat BC we should have no problem with Maryland... that would be a big lift that would keep momentum goingThat's a big IF, though. The coaches have a lot of work to do
11/6/2005 11:59:35 AM
We are behind Carolina cuz they beat us, I think we just might get left out in the cold because most bowls are traditonally against certain teams from certain conferences and we just dont have enough ACC bowls for everyone.
11/6/2005 12:02:30 PM
we shouldn't have gotten the Gator Bowl 3 years ago but we did
11/6/2005 12:02:53 PM
I do believe we were the best team in the ACC that season. TA fumbled away games we had won (Maryland and GT ring a bell... both in the last minute of the game)
11/6/2005 12:04:11 PM
If FSU, BC, MIAMI, and VT get top 10 (well maybe not BC) they get an automatic BC spot. That leaves like 4 other bowl spots right?
11/6/2005 12:40:03 PM
I don't think we'll have to worry about itFSU will probably get killed in the Championship gameBC isn't a threat becuase NC State's gonna smack that ass VT and Miami will both probably go BCS bowling
11/6/2005 12:42:39 PM
We went to the Gator bowl in '03 because we travel well. That means more money for the host. If it came down between unc and nc state for a bowl, win or lose nc state would get the nod because we PWNT unc in fanbase.
11/6/2005 12:42:51 PM
And becuase Rivers/McLendon were a great media storyI also would like to believe that they thought we were the best team available. We were the highest ranked team in the ACC that year (Even higher than FSU, who got the BCS bid..oddly enough)We were a damn good team that year. The only game we didn't control that year was Virginia. We had GT and Maryland beat from what I remember. (I'll never forget Leroy Ambush popping TA...illegal helmet to helmet as hell... but he nailed him. I still have nightmares about that hit, so I'm sure TA does )
11/6/2005 12:45:43 PM
11/6/2005 12:48:13 PM
^Yeah he's got a point. But based on travel, we would out weigh them...right?
11/6/2005 12:49:24 PM
^When it comes to football and traveling, WE PWNT. See: Gator Bowl in Jacksonville.

Come on think about it, last year Kenan was half red, we always support our teams.
11/6/2005 12:50:13 PM
11/6/2005 12:52:18 PM
There are other bowls that may have other conference affiliations that could potentially pick an ACC team if that conference doesnt have enough bowl eligible teams, as well as bowls that do not have a conference affiliation. If we finish 6-5, Im fairly certain we will have a bowl, even if its the Humanitarian Bowl or some other crappy bowl. And if we finish 7-4, then we are a hot team, winning 5 straight games, making us much more attractive than maybe a team that backed into a bowl game. That being said, it would definitely help if VT and Miami won out and both got a BCS bowl.
11/6/2005 1:06:25 PM
isnt there like 8 ACC bowls??? If we get a winning record, we're going bowling...somewhere
11/6/2005 1:09:27 PM
unc still has to play maryland, duke (they should win), and virginia tech AT virginia tech...so unc is lookin at best 6-5..maybe 5-6
11/6/2005 1:10:28 PM
11/6/2005 1:16:08 PM
if we win out we will be 2nd in the division (assuming wake doesnt upset miami and clemson doesnt upset fsu)gt still has to play miami and georgia and virginia still has miami and vt unc also has vtthus we will likely be 4th in the acc 2nd in the division if we win out (or at least 4th best looking)vt will get an at large bid to a january bowl, and the tittle game loser will play in the gator bowl. that leaves the peach bowl as the next highest bowl (and a damn good bowl) with us as the leading canidateif we only go 6-5 theres humanitarionmicron pcsilicon valley classiccontenintal tiretangerinepeachall have an option of picking ncsu even as an at large teamEAT MORE CHICKEN
11/6/2005 1:17:05 PM
unless we have a breakdown (which isnt out of the question) I think we win 2 of 3 and go to the tangerine bowl and beat some mid teir sec team to death once again (poor Kansas)
11/6/2005 1:19:41 PM
^^^He fumbled on the last two drives.... the one you're talking about led to Maryland taking the lead with :47 seconds left (I just remember we led all but :47 of that game)The drive after that..trying to retake the lead, TA ran up the middle and got blindsided by Leroy Ambush. He fumbled the ball on our own 20 yard line that sealed the Maryland win[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 1:21 PM. Reason : sdfs]

the peach bowl sucksbut we wont be there, so dont worry about it
11/6/2005 1:36:19 PM
Dude some of the bowls you listed don't exisit this year, here is the list of the bowl games, with predictions by CBSSportsline.com http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/bowls/predictions
11/6/2005 1:36:39 PM
^^the peach bowl doesnt suck anymore. its porbobly the best december bowl out there or at least one of the top. think about how 3rd in the acc used to suck but now 3rd in the acc is usually gonna be a top 15 team. the sec has always sent good teams. i remember unc played tennessee in it one year. 3rd in the acc used to suck so our views of that bowl are bad. it pays alot of moneyim just worried about gt being picked over us since they are in atlanta[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 1:42 PM. 11/6/2005 1:42:24 PM
The Peach Bowl never sucked. In addition, State won't be going to the Peach Bowl, so don't worry about it.
11/6/2005 2:06:55 PM
Lots of state fans would LOVE for NCSU to play an SEC teameven SEC fans like ACC matchups.Us playing a team like florida, georgia, tennessee, etc...would draw lots of wolfpack fans.[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 2:13 PM. Reason : ya]
11/6/2005 2:12:51 PM
We'd get murdered by any of those teams
11/6/2005 2:13:50 PM
I don't know. I think it would be a good game. The players would get pumped playing an SEC team.and we'd have a big turnout as well.Atlanta is an easy drive...plus my aunt and uncle live there so I'd have free room and board still too early to talk about bowls though
11/6/2005 2:15:43 PM
I don't think we would get murdered by Tenn. But do they have a good enough record to get a bid?
11/6/2005 2:18:22 PM
It is pretty stupid to talk bowl talk. Wait til after the BC game. This is a waste of time.

11/6/2005 2:30:39 PM
I think we will now too, I just looked at schedules and we control our own destiny, we have a legitimate shot at 4th or 5th in the conference, behind Ga. Tech, FSU, Miami, and VaTech, probly BC too but they could lose a lot of games here at the end.
11/6/2005 2:54:43 PM
If we win next week we pass BC...sad but trueLas Vegas Bowl...here we come!
11/6/2005 2:57:44 PM
On that link, Middle Tennessee is in a bowl because they are the top team in their conference. They may give us more of a game than most of you all think. I said earlier they beat Vandy already this year.

Its not a fantasy!!
11/6/2005 3:03:57 PM
Virginia won't lose out. Possible but not likely. I don't see UNC losing to Maryland either. I really think UNC is an impressive team, sadlyI think that's the NCSU dream situation above.... very very unlikely
11/6/2005 3:07:47 PM
Why Cant Virgina Lose out, and even if they win 1 they only have 6 wins and we have 7, oh and if carolina gets 1 win they only have 6 too!!!! We still are peach bowlin!!
11/6/2005 3:09:15 PM
the peach bowl does suck if a 7-4(which is a heck of an if) ncsu gets to play in it[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 3:38 PM. Reason : s]
11/6/2005 3:38:26 PM
^^ I'm not saying they cant... but surely you'd have to think they can win at least one of thoseAlso, When it comes to Eastern Kentucky... isn't there a new Bowl rule that says you can only count a win over a Division 2 team towards bowl eligibility every 4 years? Have we already used that...maybe?I don't know exactly how that works, but I know there's a rule about it. Anyone know?
11/6/2005 4:00:57 PM
^We in the past have had at least 7 wins, so we never technically "had" to count a D-1 AA win. So I dont think it will apply this year if we get 6.
11/6/2005 4:12:51 PM
Yeah... I knew that, but I'm not sure how it worksWould it count if, say during the Gator Bowl year, we used that Div-1AA win to say we had a 10-win season and get the spot?Does it mean "if your 6th win is Div-1AA" (Which I assume it does)... or possibly the scenario above?
11/6/2005 4:16:57 PM
i have noticed somethingevery time there is a thread like this, we fuck up bad
11/6/2005 4:17:12 PM
^yup and i think we might be sleeping on MTSU a little too. They are right behind ustotal defense: we are 19, they are 22pass D: we are 21, they are 24rushing D: we are 22, they are 42scoring D: we are 32, they are 9and their offensive stats are down around 100and i know stats don't really mean that much, but i can easily see that game being like USM. hopefully we play better than we did against them.
11/6/2005 5:53:33 PM
^The only team they have played that has a record better than .500 now is undefeated Alabama.
