change bios setting to boot cd first. If you don't know how to do that, get someone else to look at it.

Import, I'm not sure how much your time is worth to you ... but given you've made about 5+ threads about your dead hard drive and needing to replace it ... you could have paid one person from Tech Talk $20 to take of all of this for you. Another $20 to diagnose your dead drive and *attempt* to recover stuff off of it. Not trying to be mean ... just providing perspective. Quick tips:1) Google is your best friend. 2) Go to the library and pick up some "PC repair" books3) Read the manuals or stuff off of the manufacturer's website(s)Mod, you can please lock his threads or tell him to consolidate them into one? Thnx.[Edited on November 1, 2005 at 8:35 PM. Reason : niceness]

Make sure that whatever harddrive you're trying to install XP onto is set to master (check the jumper on the back) and any other hard drive should be set to slave. Also set bios to boot from cd first like was stated earlier (google if you don't know how).

if it's not even booting from the CD, but it's turning on and getting to errors and such, try getting into your bios/system setup and making sure the cdrom is set as a boot device, and well... actually working. it could be that your ide controller is dead or something if none of the drives are showing up.
