Melvins Hamburgers on Hillsborough Street has applied for an alcohol permit so they can serve beer when they stay open until 1:00 am. They should be ready to serve when the Hillsborough Hike takes place.

10/30/2005 10:10:29 PM

I noticed that when I first ate there about a month back. I talked to the guy at the counter and he said they plan to keep them there... if it becomes a problem they'll move it into the corner between the two rooms.[Edited on October 30, 2005 at 10:21 PM. Reason : clarification]

any of you ever go to melvin's in elizabethtown? yum.i've never been to the one on hillsborough street.
10/30/2005 10:26:30 PM
wait... wtf they are leaving the taps where they are?
10/30/2005 10:29:45 PM
^ Exactly my first thought.
10/30/2005 11:22:03 PM
wait, so if they leave the taps there and serve alcohol...woohoo... free refills on beer for everyone! :-D

I overheard some frattie talking to an employee the other day. He said that they'd leave the nonfunctioning taps out next to the coke machine, but would only serve from behind the counter.

Tell the owner to leave the fries as they are. The fries are awesome and they don't need to change to the crinkle cut ones.
10/31/2005 10:24:13 PM
the fries right now arent anything special, it might be worth a shot to change them up
10/31/2005 11:23:39 PM
Also, I'd be for having larger servings of fries. The dozen or so I get don't really do me any good. Think about going to "baskets" for serving devices, instead of trays. Also, I wouldn't mind seeing a little more expansive menu, even if it means things get a bit slower.
10/31/2005 11:51:27 PM
the fries taste like they used to be good an hour ago maybe
11/1/2005 12:37:15 AM
yeah, the fries do suck...but the burgers are good to me
11/1/2005 12:47:29 AM
i agree with the idea of baskets instead of trays
11/1/2005 12:51:54 AM
I dunno about you but I got plenty of fries the last two times I went
11/1/2005 7:33:46 AM
Americans go for french fries like blue whales go for krill
11/1/2005 8:39:34 PM

The first two times I went the fries kicked ass. The next time, business was a little slow, and I got old fries. WTF? If there is nobody behind me in line, I don't mind waiting an extra 45 seconds to a minute for fresh fries.
11/1/2005 9:46:45 PM
i dunno about them getting an alcohol permit on hillsborough st. I heard it is pretty damn hard to these days.
11/1/2005 10:15:16 PM
where is this?
11/1/2005 10:22:40 PM
The first time I went everything was fast prompt and awesome...the second time I went everything was fast prompt and old...the burger was mediocre and the fries were REALLY cold...please throw out your fries after 15mins or at least get a damn heat lamppotato's are cheap ya'll
11/1/2005 10:41:44 PM
i just hope the booze is as cheap as the meal
11/1/2005 11:46:13 PM
i heart melvins
11/2/2005 12:07:46 AM
attn melvins: PLEASE DRY THE FUCKING TRAYS BEFORE YOU PUT MY FOOD ON THEM. IT SUCKS TO OPEN YOUR SOGGY HAMBURGER WRAPPER AND FIND YOUR BURGER SOGGY BECAUSE SOME SHIT BIRD BEHIND THE COUNTER DIDNT DRY THE TRAY. if i wasnt going to be late for class, i would have complained and gotten another burger.
