The kid deserves his own thread. 248 yards on 32 carries (7.75 average per carry) with 2 TDs and almost broke the single game rushing record for an NC State running back set by Ted Brown. Simply put, a beast of a game.

note the thread about heisman contenders, note my answer about halfway downno one else believedhttp://www.brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=314858&page=1#6726692
10/29/2005 4:38:10 PM
ummm....he had 248 yards against a C-USA teamhe deserves praise cause he was nasty and its threadworthy....but he could do this for the next 4 weeks and he still wouldnt be a heisman contender this yearmaybe thats why no one believed...?
10/29/2005 4:40:12 PM
dude this wAS before the season startedif we woulda put him in earlier in the year, just imagine
10/29/2005 4:42:14 PM
i imagine he woulda struggled against VT, Clemson, GT, etc as wellHe's completely fresh after sitting the bench all year... defensive players are banged up and worn down 7 games into the season.Wait until we see what he does against FSU/UMD/etc before you annoit him a heisman winner. If he was a heisman type player he woulda been higher on the depth chart in preseason.Besides, its silly to predict a guy to win the heisman thats on an awful team with a lot of depth at RB.He had 0% chance of winniing the award this year... you should have mentioned him in a sleeper thread or something, not a heisman one
10/29/2005 4:49:56 PM
def not heisman material this yearhe's a freshman, so you've got a while to drink that koolaid
10/29/2005 5:00:24 PM
That negro would have the record if it weren't for a phantom holding call. Oh well though, we got to run some more time off the clock and scored a touchdown anyway. That fucker is faster than I thought he would be....GG ANDRE
10/29/2005 5:12:49 PM
toney baker should see the bench for awhile at this pthe fumbles more than TA w/out as good of an excuse. not to mention he never showed the talent TA showed.
10/29/2005 5:14:26 PM
What can Brown do for you?
10/29/2005 5:19:02 PM
I agree, Baker needs to fucking sit...he is our 4th best RB overall, I would say
10/29/2005 5:27:01 PM
TB is our 2nd best running back. He is better than Blackman with our shitty o-line...just not as fast. Brown was just SICK today though. After watching this, you cant deny that he is probably #1. He's a perfect combo of size/strength and speed. He's faster than TA was...looks like he holds on to the ball well, and can break a tackle too. He was fun to watch today.I agree that Baker needs to sit though for a game or 2. There's no reason for us to leave ANY of our backs in the game if they're gonna fumble. [Edited on October 29, 2005 at 6:27 PM. Reason : ]
10/29/2005 6:26:35 PM
he still needs to work on catching the ball out of the backfield though. once he does that he's the complete RB.
10/29/2005 6:30:13 PM
Brown and Baker should both be in the backfield. One could run left, the other right, and the defense simply hoping they get lucky.
10/29/2005 6:35:03 PM
^^definatelyI think that might be the focus of practice this week for EVERYONE. We dropped a bunch of them.
10/29/2005 8:19:33 PM
but there have been a lot of passes dropped all season. you think that is gonna miraculously change in a week? i mean it could for him since this was the first game that he was being thrown to, but i dont think much will change for everyone else. at least not because they dropped the passes this game.shit, TJ has dropped a ton of passes this season.
10/29/2005 8:23:10 PM
I didnt say it would change in a week, but im sure they will work on it more this week...it just seems like its been worse the past 2 games. We finally got the penalties under control, time to move on in practice.
10/29/2005 8:38:07 PM
we need two-back sets with Davis and Blackman or Davis and Brown...either way, we need to rotate those three guys because they all deserve to play
10/29/2005 9:40:08 PM
IT was great to see him get some pt today, and play well. I went to highschool with him, and he just keeps getting better! Great game Andre! Keep up the great work!
10/29/2005 9:52:24 PM
gg on making sportscenter top 10
10/29/2005 11:54:19 PM
i loved seeing them run a fullback all day, that really opened up the holes...ritcher and hill make a good tandem as a fullback
10/30/2005 12:09:36 AM
^^which play made the top 10?
10/30/2005 12:10:45 AM
the 61 yard run.
10/30/2005 12:12:26 AM
It wasn't on the 1am sportscenter top 10! I wish I had seen it
10/30/2005 1:59:58 AM
baker should be fifth on the depth chart til he learns to hold onto the ballyou fucks didnt give this benefit of the doubt to TA and he showed 10x the talen TB has at this pt
10/30/2005 2:00:10 AM
i agree, TB is slipping. Lets put ball retention at the top of the qualifier list to start.
10/30/2005 7:17:46 AM
yup, i mean thats supposedly the whole reason y Bobby isnt getting much playing time. He fumbles in practice. Well hell, fumbling in the fucking game is 10x worse.
10/30/2005 10:23:12 AM
10/30/2005 10:39:03 AM
10/30/2005 10:59:55 AM
did you read the rest of the post? I said he should sit out for a game or 2 because of the fumbles. Blackman likes to put it on the ground too, he just doesn't get as many carries from the backfield. Hell, he fumbled that kickoff return in the second half too.
10/30/2005 11:08:42 AM
^Yes...point is...even without the fumbles, I don't see how anyone can clearly say that Baker is better than Blackman. Blackman has shown me just as much as Baker has.
10/30/2005 11:14:13 AM
And I don't recall Blackman fumbling that much in the backfield. Yes...he does fumble a lot on punt and kickoff returns...but take him off KO and PR, not out of the backfielf for that. But Baker is putting it on the turf WAY too much. It's getting to the point where you hold you breath when they hand off the ball (hello TA).
10/30/2005 11:18:15 AM
The gap is not big, I just think the fact that Baker is stronger and breaks more tackles helps us out more than Blackman can. With a shitty o-line, you have to put a back in that can break tackles...thats what i'm basing my theory on. Just look at Andre yesterday...he broke a shitload of tackles...difference is that he has the strength AND speed. Too bad he cant catch a screen pass, although his 24 yard diving catch was pretty nasty.
10/30/2005 11:18:35 AM
baker and brown are our top two backs. if tiki barber can fix his fumbling problem, so can baker. now all we need is to get tom coughlin down here and...ok maybe not, but he's still one of our 2 best backs from sheer talent alone. i was impatient with TA because he started doing this after 2 years of playing time and experience. baker is still fresh and prone to mistakes, and i'm more willing to give a freshman the benefit of the doubt than i am a junior that seems to have no work ethic.
10/30/2005 2:29:49 PM
ive been saying hes gonna be sick the whole time, even during the tony baker hooplah
10/30/2005 4:49:23 PM
Of course, Brown wasn't the only one dropping screens, TJ dropped one or two as well, SO, was it the recievers, or the Passer? haha, actually, it doesn't matter who it is, we need to fix it!
10/30/2005 6:06:19 PM
10/30/2005 6:23:09 PM
blackman is the leading return man in the acc, IIRC
10/30/2005 6:25:39 PM
10/30/2005 6:26:35 PM
Wow, those are some pretty impressive numbers. Nice job.Williams' lack of catches was something I noticed yesterday, too. Seemed weird just because he's been such a big target for Jay--maybe he just needs some more time to adjust to Stone's throwing?
10/30/2005 6:32:37 PM
Its really wierd that TJ is having trouble catching the ball right now. He has made some of the most ridiculous catches over the past 2 seasons when he's been hung out to dry. Maybe its just a lack of concentration because we all know he has the ability. Seems to me like our guys are trying to hard to make a play, because when i look up at the replay it always looks like they tried to run before they secured the catch. I can't say I blame them because our offense is pretty inept right now, but there is still no excuse.
10/30/2005 6:38:29 PM
AB is starting against FSU
10/30/2005 8:51:59 PM
10/30/2005 9:06:11 PM
10/30/2005 9:12:10 PM
I think its that he enjoys getting hung out to dry over the middle and Stone has not put him in that situation yet. His concentration level isnt as high when he knows the ball will be put on the money.
10/30/2005 9:15:43 PM
10/30/2005 9:38:59 PM
well, after yesterday's game it's clear to me that Stone has one definite talent:Handing the ball off to Brown
10/30/2005 9:41:31 PM
ok, I laughed, but you are still a tool.
10/30/2005 10:01:59 PM
If you guys would of seen him in the 4A State Championships against Mount Tabor...representing Greenville Rose...than you know it was only time before the beast 'Andre' was released on the rest of the D1-Fottball world!! Great job Saturday Andre, and Im glad your getting the start against FSU on Saturday!!! Rampant Pride coming through for the Wolfpack!!!
10/31/2005 1:35:10 AM
^We (Greene Central, a 2A school) kicked Greenville Rose's ass in baseball at the Hot Stove tournament and won that shit... Ok, </baseball> But you are right sir... Andre "The Giant" ran all over them fools Saturday, and I'm pretty sure he's not some fluke like TA was... Atleast I hope not... I'm ready to see what this kid can do...
10/31/2005 7:10:28 AM
damn, how would you like to make your first start at FSU? That fucker better come to play. Those linebackers are a little better than USM's. Of course he ran the ball down D. Nicholson's throat in that State championship game 2 years ago, and he was one of the best linebackers in the country in high school.
