whats wrong with the current KA turbo setup?build up an SR and sell me the KA turbo parts[Edited on October 28, 2005 at 1:51 AM. Reason : ]

sr
10/28/2005 1:50:50 AM
nothin is wrong with the current ka setup, im just going to be wanting more power and the engine leaks oil like a mofo. also the engine has about 130k miles on it like you said. if i do the sr swap i get a new tranny too. 3rd gear on the current tranny is getting gheyoh yeah this guy has a 3sgte clip for my celica for 2000 but that is probably way out there, although i do love that little car the tranny and clutch would need to be updated, not to mention fwd sucks.also the sr only comes with 200hp stock the current ka turbo is running about 230 to the wheels so i dunno if i could put up with that.how much would u buy my turbo setup for
10/28/2005 1:54:15 AM
sounds like youre trying to do it big huh? i suggest you leave that used shit alone then and step uphttp://www.handcraftedracing.com/engines.html
10/28/2005 2:04:13 AM
yeah i saw that i might as well just get it already all done up. i talked to him on a local message forum he said he could build up my "used shit" for 2800. but then i dont know how much it would cost for someone to drop it into my car since i dont have the tools nor have i ever done this zxappeal would do it lol.the thing about is the body on the 240 sucks ass the only good thing about the car is that it has a turbo kit.. that's about it the tranny is rattling (im guess) it has no lsd etc etc.i dont know what to do.
10/28/2005 2:09:32 AM
ooh.. 350 swap!!!
10/28/2005 2:10:11 AM
also if i did my core in the car currently i would have to pay someone to take the engine out.. give it to him then go ahead and put it back in with the 370cc injectors still and current setup, waiting for more money to upgrade that and fuel management. i dont know what to do at all.
10/28/2005 2:12:01 AM
i was thinking about just parting the car out for what i can, buying a decent 240 shell for about 500 then swapping in a srengine who knows.
10/28/2005 2:12:59 AM
probably would be easiest to part out the current turbo setup . maybe get about1000 for it? i dunno what it would run for, selling the engine for like 50 bux ahah and the tranny and then just swapping in the sr... wouldnt be super fast but it would run pretty damn good and the tranny issue would get taken care of.
10/28/2005 2:15:54 AM
just boost the hell out of it till the motor goes, then sr. take pics/video of the carnage.
10/28/2005 2:18:42 AM
i did that last night the only prob is the gasket popped off last night while doing this right behind the turbo, so exhaust gasses exit out of my hood scooop .funny to it wouldnt go into 3rd when gunning it so i was like GO MOTHER FUCKER lol slammed that bitch and it went in [Edited on October 28, 2005 at 2:21 AM. 10/28/2005 2:20:52 AM
list me all your turbo accessories (with details, condition, etc) [Edited on October 28, 2005 at 2:22 AM. Reason : double clutch 3rd gear?]
10/28/2005 2:22:25 AM
TURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRBO
10/28/2005 2:22:42 AM
isn't there a guy on here w/ an rb 25? umm honestly thought the sr is a better motor with a stronger block and forged internalsi guess the real question is.. "is your ka dohc or sohc"ka24de or ka24eif its single over head cam throw it in the trash.. the dohc ones can be quick though
10/28/2005 2:33:42 AM
it's dohc, im not into that double clutchin bull shit .t3/T04E 50 Trim, hks deltagate, xspower intercooler,sr370's,walboro fuel pump,afc2,apex turbo timer, hks ssq blowoff valve, centerforce dual friction clutch, short shifter, autometer gauges, the turbo only has 20k miles spools up fine it's way too big of a turbo for only the 5psi of boost that it's running. not sure if i would want to keep the safcII not sure if that would be useful on the sr engine im ignorant btw.i would probably want to keep the blow off valve and the intercooler.
10/28/2005 2:38:28 AM
yeah the whole idea of getting the sr engine is having less of a hassle compared to building up the ka.. and getting a new tranny for the car while im at it since the one right now is on it's way out soon with 165k miles.oh yeah and i can be a faggot and brag about having a JDM SWAP yo [Edited on October 28, 2005 at 2:44 AM. Reason : oh yeah ]
10/28/2005 2:40:04 AM
turbo is a garrett btw
10/28/2005 2:42:55 AM
and youll let all that go for a grand you say? hmmm

oh my goddouble AND triple posting. Look fj40s, I forgot your name but it sounds to me like you are in over your head a little bit, and no offense but I think you would have been better off fixing the problems on your bike and selling it. My advice would be to take a few steps back, sell this car, and find a regular unmolested one to learn on. Youll still have the celica to drive in the mean time, and when you get a good solid 240 you can sell the celica and use that $ as you begin to modify a solid car. Paying thousands of dollars for a JDM swap thats going into a basket case car isnt a good idea. Keep in mind that is money going in that you will never be able to get back out of the car should circumstances change in time.I feel old, giving such lame sounding advice but Id hate to see you end up with a money pit yard ornament like smoothcrim.
10/28/2005 4:38:28 AM
this is true i might as well just go ahead and get rid of the piece , even if i did the swap there would always be the damn problem of the body work..i said for a grand bc i dont know what they go for, ill do some more research of what they go for and offer it for a lil less than they go for.thanksKylemaybe i should swap the damn celica i've always wanted to do that and it's pretty unmolested.
10/28/2005 8:29:37 AM
I think the advice is more for whether or not you should tackle a swap, not which car you should swap.If swapping, definitely the 240sx over the celica. It should be the obvious one
10/28/2005 9:17:01 AM
tackling the swap should not be bad. i can get ppl to help me out cough zxappeal cough.
10/28/2005 12:22:58 PM
^ It will take longer and cost more money than you think.
10/28/2005 12:42:34 PM
is 4000 enough >? i know you just dont swap the thing in and ur good to go. the hardest part is setting up the electrical.[Edited on October 28, 2005 at 1:23 PM. Reason : .]
10/28/2005 1:22:32 PM
yeah, don't pull a smoothcrim with this thing. at least you admit you don't know what you're doing though
10/28/2005 1:33:07 PM
ohhhhhhhhh snap . yeah building the engine would take too much time and would cost too much. swapping engines in either of the 2 cars would prove to be easier and no smoothcrim would be pulled (hopefully)
10/28/2005 1:34:44 PM
Speaking of which...smoothcrim wants me to help get his stuff finished.BTW, Kyle...I don't argue with a good buildup, IF the car in question is solid and in good enough condition. But seriously, for total ease, an SR swap-in wins hands down. A buildup requires lots of time and will most likely cost more for good quality work.
10/28/2005 1:43:16 PM
just do an SR swap... you ricer.
10/28/2005 2:01:11 PM
^ you know it. i guess ill fix up my piece and get it running good.[Edited on October 28, 2005 at 4:06 PM. Reason : asdf]
