Reading the Goodfellas thread made me think of this. I'm sure it's been done, but I haven't seen anything recently. So here goes my top 10:1) Godfather Part I2) Godfather Part II3) Goodfellas4) Once Upon a Time in America5) Casino6) Scarface7) Carlito's Way8) Donnie Brasco9) Untouchables10) Godfather Part IIIJust outside of top 10The following are either just outside of the top 10 or I don't know if they are mobster movies:- A Bronx Tale- Road to Perdition- The Usual Suspects (don't know if it's mobste)- Reservoir Dogs (liked it, but not loved it like a lot of other people)- Heat (one of my favorite, but not necessarily mobster)
10/25/2005 11:57:39 PM
take godfather III off that list
10/26/2005 12:13:00 AM
I know people hate on Godfather III...but I think they do so because they compare it to the frist two. It's not even close to being as good as the first two, but no movie is. I think the ending sucked...but in all, it's not a bad movie.
10/26/2005 12:14:45 AM
don't really care for gangster/mob movies
10/26/2005 12:14:58 AM

10/26/2005 12:27:36 AM
not sure if it deserves top ten, but def. an honorable mentionThe Boondock Saints
10/26/2005 12:49:13 AM
boondock saints isnt really a gangster movie in the sense the others arei dont think untouchables qualifies that much either since it focuses so much more on the cops.that said, if untouch IS on the list, it def deserves to be above scarface and carlito's way.and 4 of the other 5 you listed i know to be abvoe GFIIIhavent seen RTP
10/26/2005 12:51:56 AM

Verna: What're you chewin' over?Tom Reagan: Dream I had once. I was walkin' in the woods, I don't know why. Wind came up and blew me hat off.Verna: And you chased it, right? You ran and ran, finally caught up to it and you picked it up. But it wasn't a hat anymore and it changed into something else, something wonderful.Tom Reagan: Nah, it stayed a hat and no, I didn't chase it. Nothing more foolish than a man chasin' his hat.

I love Goodfellas but II is perhaps the greatest story ever committed to film with one following closely behind it. I agree the definition is very very loose.
10/26/2005 9:20:49 PM
10/27/2005 1:43:09 AM
miller's crossing
10/27/2005 2:09:51 AM

10/28/2005 10:24:10 AM

10/28/2005 10:27:48 AM
10/28/2005 1:40:06 PM
