Sparky, you can delete this if you want. Just figured I'd try and help some peeps out.I posted this in the classifeids, BUT, the CircuitCity on Glenwood is hiring for seasonal (at least) help (full-time and part-time). A good chunk of the people can/will stay after the holidays.Management is good, people are cool, discount is alright, pay is good. Need some extra money or something to do? Come hang out - it's not too bad.I work in Roadshop but they're accepting people for ALL Departments including Customer Service, Merch, Warehouse, Roadshop, Home Entertainment, etc.If you apply send me your full name so I can affirm that you applied when they asked. Mike

You beat me to this thread Mike
10/26/2005 1:28:17 AM
do you get paid off comission there? like if I sold ~$80,000 in laptops, would my pay reflect it? or would it be the same as joe blow that sold $8000 worth?
10/26/2005 2:08:15 AM
Haha, Ronny. I figured this'd be a good way to get some people in. And if I'm lucky, people that I like or at least have something in common with. Let me know what the deal is with that horn.As for the sales affecting your $, it does. Not as directly as you'd like, but it does. Since we're not commission based anymore, we don't get a direct kickback. BUT, our store's pretty good about running what they call "contests", which are more or less kickbacks for doing certain things. Lately, it's been selling credit cards. Other times, it's attachments to orders. That sort of thing. So, no, if you sell 80k in laptops, you won't be making the same as you would if you sell 8k. However, there's less of an incentive there than if we were making our commission-based salaries. Thanks guys. Mike
10/26/2005 9:25:36 AM
Anyone else? I've had 8 people apply thus far... Mike

10/28/2005 7:15:56 PM

10/28/2005 7:38:03 PM
so who can get me a deal on 2 or 4 6.5" speakers?
10/30/2005 12:16:51 AM
Who CAN get you a discount? Anyone who works here.Who WILL get you a discount? No one who works here. The best deal for you guys would be to try and pick up something on open box. I'd be happy to dispell all of the "rumors" about open box items. Mike
10/30/2005 11:15:21 AM
open box just means it's been through rigorous testing and that you will not be getting a dud right...?
10/30/2005 11:19:47 AM
Effectively, yes. There's no cut/dry definition of what the open box items entail, but, in short, they're typically items that were returned within our return period, have had service performed within the return period, etc. They are not duds, and they have been through testing. This is not a "grab bag." Besides, they're covered by the manufacturer's warranty and can be warrantied through CCity for further coverage.Which brings me to the next point. If you're buying something in Car Audio (mobile video and navigation included) - buy the frickin' warranty. It's worth it. If you would like to contest that, please let me know. But I promise it's worth the money in most cases. Mike
10/30/2005 12:31:08 PM
I agree about the warranty if you plan on keeping the car for a while...I traded some stuff in after almost 2 years and got a nice amount of store credit to get a new system2L8 you work in car audio? I was there a couple weeks ago and ended up talking to Sam and another guy in the install bay, but didn't actually have time to check what was in stock inside
10/30/2005 1:53:24 PM
^^ I've never purchased a warranty and never have regretted not doing so. It should be a % of the purchase price with a max amount instead of a flat fee.
10/30/2005 2:00:57 PM
Cornbread; I'm referring specifically to car audio products. The percentage of people who use the service is what allows CCity to continue offering the warranties, but they're a DAMN GOOD DEAL in the car audio department. Seriously, if you blow it up, bring it back - we replace or repair it. The flat fee itself is proportional to the price of the product (and I'm sure the frequency with which something comes back also plays a role, though I don't know that for sure.)Loyota; That's the nice part about their car audio warranties; it's basically an upgrade plan if you use (read:abuse) it. If you have the two year, come back in two years with the amp shot, then you get the money back for it (or a repair) and you can apply it to something else. Well worth it. And yes, I do work in Car Audio. I'm not sure who Sam is though; did you come to the Raleigh store or the Cary store? Mike[Edited on October 30, 2005 at 2:17 PM. Reason : edit]

I need to change out my muffler bearings, too, pretty soon. BMW's are known to have poor muffler bearings. As for the headlight fluid, mine are starting to get a bit hazy.BigDawgDaneNegro, etc.; There's no discrimination, here. Just honesty and ethical behavior.
