Davis should never see the field again.

Stone at QB - 17 points in about a quarter of work
Davis at QB - 0 points and just simply pathetic

Who threw the 1st pick that went for a WF touchdown?

Also, the 2nd pick that Davis threw cost us points. We were on the 20 and threw it right to the WF defender, who was standing there as if he were fielding a punt.

i dont see how being at the game affects the fact that Marcus Stone also threw an INT for a td. it went from 19-13 to 19-27 in what, 1 minute max?

no matter who plays QB, we lose. looks to me like jay davis just sucked, and marcus was good until the pressure got turned up a couple of notches.

How about if Davis didnt throw the first one we might have had a bigger lead.

How about if Davis didnt throw the second one we might have scored at least 3 points and had a better shot at winning, or scored 6 and had a chance to tie.

How about the fact that YOU didnt see how davis looked like a retard under center and couldnt hit a receiver.

How about you being a total fuck and supporting Davis when he has worn out his welcome.

It needs no more explaining, Stone played much better than Davis, and you dont know that because you didnt see it, so shut the fuck up.

PRESSURE???????????? Stone came off the bench behind 11 points and we rattled off 17 straight points with him under center....HOW THE FUCK COULD HE BE UNDER MORE PRESSURE?????

I understand what you were trying to say AFTER the original post, but still, your first one was pro-davis, which is just stupid at this point. If you weren't at the game, you have no room to talk because you couldn't see what actually happened. Davis DID lose the game for us because he couldn't move the ball and threw 2 picks, not 1. Trust me man, I'm the last person to flame the quarterback for a loss, and I haven't untill this game. Davis just looked horrible, and its time for a change.

ESPECIALLY AFTER THE WAKE GAME

THERE IS NO LOGICAL, PHILOSOPHICAL, RELIGIOUS, SPIRITUAL, SCIENTIFIC, COSMIC, OR ANY OTHER REASON TO LET DAVIS TAKE THE HELM

Stone has balls enough to throw it downfield and make it an up tempo game, all the while further opening up the run.

and yes he makes N00B mistakes, thats because he is still unexperienced. if you don't remember Davis making the same if not more mistakes when he was new, you are fucking retarded.

oh and there's this little factoid that keeps popping up. Davis is gone next year.

so if we don't put in the next guy, we'll be screaming "N00B" at Stone or whomever else for the better part of next season.

i don't care if Amato puts in his wife to QB, she isn't a tried and tested loser yet.

just stop putting the offense in charge of the guy thats been tried and convicted of first degree suckacide.

N 4-3 N45 Morgan, D. rush up middle for loss of 1 yard to the NCS44 (Smith, A).

that was the play that lost it for nc state. if chuck didn't decide to do a shitty obvious fake punt, we could be saying davis saved the day. doubtful, but possible.

and could someone who was at the game explain to me why chuck took out stone for the 4th quarter.

Stone threw 2 TD's, one for us, one for them. Jay threw 2 TD's, one for us, one for them.
Davis cost us a FG(INT). Stone cost us a FG(2 sacks).

They both suck, so stop sucking either one's dick. We're going nowhere really fast with either of them and I hope that if our coaches have any type of brain that next year Stone will be riding the bench and we'll stick it out with Burke. You can't keep jumping from junior QB to junior QB when they suck. We should have taken our losses last year and went with Stone, but we didn't so we need to correct our mistake now and move on from BOTH of them. Hell I wish they would give Greco a chance, he's young, he couldn't do any worse, hell he could learn a lot this year and maybe battle for a starter next year as a soph.

Look at River's, he started as a freshman(lucky break from injury) and look how he turned out. Given we had a better cast of supporters around him, he still had a chance to grow and mature.

Barring injury, de-committment, or him totally sucking pre-season next year, Burke should get the start and we should go from there. There will be growing pains, but I'd rather have 1 sucky year, 1 iffy year, and then hopefully benefit from the next 2 years instead of taking 2 shitty years in a row and continuing this pattern of QB's who aren't comfortable in the pocket and who make bad decisions.

Jay Davis got a rough deal because he was in the shadow of what many NCSU fans/supporters consider a "football god" and was thrown to the lions and expected to be just like him. Then Marcus Stone was suppose to come in and take over Davis' job and be our savior and neither could live up to the expectations.

So I say either try Greco out(can't hurt) or cut our losses this year, let Jay finish out his senior year, and then next year start the freshman and let him learn and make the offense his own.

I don't see why you guys have given up on Stone before he has been given an actual chance. You have seen the guy play what, 3 quarters total this year. He might not have been perfect, but he doesn't get much time for experience. The way trestman runs practice, Davis gets like 90% of the reps. So of course stone might not know exactly what the hell he is doing; yet with these 10% of the reps that he might get he still looked a ton better than Davis.

And its not like he has only next year. Why wouldn't you just play Stone for the rest of the year instead of Davis. There is 0 logic to playing davis, he is a lost cause. He cannot mentally deal with his mistakes.

OH YEAH, GRECO REALLY SOUNDS LIKE THE ANSWER

Stone was the only one able to move the ball at the Wake game. Would have had another TD, but his good ~40 yard throw was carried out of the endzone by the biggest gust of wind of the day.

I'm not saying Stone is the answer, but he looked like the best answer we've got.

My bad, they must have changed the box score thing then because when I was watching the gamecast of it ESPN and CNNSI had Jay Davis throwing the first Brian Clark TD, must have been an error.

Stone played last year too, so we've seen him play more than 3 quarters. I didn't see him Saturday since it wasn't on tv, but EVERY game before he's been so run-first that it's retarded. Gets the snap, scans the receivers for about 1 second, and then runs straight up the middle. I mean I like having a mobile QB, but I don't want one who doesn't throw the ball and can finish a game because he takes so many hits.

And the report of Greco I've seen was that he was in an almost completely run-first offense in high school, but his showing at many camps was very impressive awarding him many looks. And if y'all are set on having a really mobile QB, he's faster than Stone and suppose to have equal arm strength.

So finish out the season with who you want, we might even steal a big game, but next year we should go with Burke regardless. And if you say his high school stats aren't impressive you're kidding yourself, 30+ TD's and 2 INT's already this season, maybe even 40+ TD's after Friday night, didn't see the score.

So did Marcus leave the game hurt against Wake? If so I think that makes every game he's seen more than one drive he's had to leave the game hurt. The kid is so accident prone it's ridiculous, and I understand getting sacked if the line breaks down, but he runs way to many draws up the middle instead of just throwing it away or actually giving his receivers a chance to get open.

"I didn't see him Saturday since it wasn't on tv"

I was at the game. He looked like he got pretty settled in. He was pretty poised other than his one pick (the one bad decision I saw him make), and a couple sacks he took at the end of his first drive. Stone was staying in the pocket, delivering the ball, and taking the hit. He looked MUCH better than any of his stints last year. As best as I could tell, Amato just decided to put Davis back in. Stone wasn't hurt. Stone did enter the game at one point because Davis got hurt.

I think it's fair to say you haven't seen enough of Stone since last year to conclude on his play. You also haven't seen Greco or Burke play at the college level (and probably not at the HS level). Stone was just as touted a prospect out of HS as Burke (depending on your perspective, this means either he is as talented or HS rankings don't mean alot).

My take on the game was that with Stone you got a guy who made plays and moved the ball. Davis consistently made a lack of plays, leading to stalled out drives/3 and outs. Wake's incredible punter killed us in field position when we couldn't move the ball, and our defense was stuck out on the field. When Amato put Davis out there for the last drive (when he had not moved the ball at all), I turned to a friend and said "Amato just bet his job on Jay Davis). It was a risky call and I think the wrong one.

Even if you think it is a toss up between Davis and Stone, why should we play Davis the whole time when we are 2-4 with the meat of our schedule ahead of us? How much more is Davis going to improve in the next game or two than he has in 4 1/2 years, and 1 1/2 on the field? I'd rather give the guy a chance who could potentially make plays and win games this year, and at the very least will gain some experience for the future.

I've been pretty adamantly for keeping Davis as the QB so far. But after the clemson and WF losses, this season is pretty much a wash. Therefore, I fully agree that it's time to retire davis for good and get Stone some experience to potentially lead us for the next two years.

i know that we saw him last year. but he seems to have changed. markgoal summed it up perfectly. he does not just run it now. I was just as skeptical as you were, but even I am comming around.

my problem with stone was never that he didn't have the ability, it was that he would do just what u said, run the ball up the middle. that has seemed to change, but we don't know completely without the kid playing some more.

my problem with davis is not so much his physical ability either. i think he can make a play. his problem is his mind. he goes out there and gets hit a couple times and then he clams up, or he throws a pick and then overthinks everything else and fucks up more and it just keeps building. Stone is not like that. He got sacked twice, back to back then turned around and threw a TD.

So I say, give the start to Stone and try him out. Davis may be the better QB in practice when he knows he isn't gonna get drilled. But in a game, Stone has proved better this year.

^ while that is true, Davis will graduate next year, and Stone will still be here. If burke isn't ready to play, then Stone will be the one out there.

Better to get him as much experience as possible to prepare him for next year than to keep davis in the game and provide no benefit whatsoever.

Anyone who watched that Wake game would start Stone next game based on his performance alone, much less the whole "get him some experience before next year" point.

If Chuck insists on starting Jay, he's much worse than I thought.

Haha, maybe his dumbness is a good thing. Either way, most people seem to think that both suck, but if thats the case, you people should want stone in for the rest of the season just because he has a shot to play next year. The only 2 options for us this year are Stone and Davis, and I don't think some of you people understand that. Greco as an option is just retarded at this point.

Amato did say that he would discuss the QB issue this week with his coaches, which is much more of a "give in" per say than I was expecting. I'm just glad he didn't come out and say Davis was the starter for sure. That said, I dont think Stone got hurt in the game Saturday or we would have heard it as Amato's excuse to start Davis.
