ok...so i think my office chair is my problem with my bones being so achy, lower back pain, neck pain, etc etc. so...what kind of office chair do you have? I sit at my desk most of the day (8 hour work day)...i go take bathroom breaks and a trip to the breakroom at least once a day...and i may spend up to an hour away from my desk at the copying machine or trekking down the hall to a colleague's office.

10/20/2005 3:37:03 PM
ok well since i have a "decent" chair i imagine i'll have to pay outta pocket for my own...even if the office did pay i know they wouldn't go for thatso how bout any testimonials of good chairs under $300
10/20/2005 4:20:07 PM
Yea I can't stand mine at work.I had to fight for it too! I didn't want to get stuck with the ones with the split back. These damn things are everywhere.
10/20/2005 4:22:59 PM
We had the ones imhill posted when I worked in Bosnia and they were the shit. However, they were way too expensive.

When I did internship with Infineon Technologies, everyone in the building had that Aeron Herman Miller chair (pic in imhill's post). Shit is so damn comfortable to sit in.
10/21/2005 6:45:55 AM
I miss my Aeron Had one of those 2 jobs ago. I threatened to steal it when I quit.
10/21/2005 10:07:28 AM
i broke the recline stop on my chair, so my posture is going to shit, quickly
10/21/2005 10:35:31 AM
yeah we've got the ones imhill posted here only slightly more expensive... i think the last few we got were about $1200.they are fan-fucking-tastic though.i still say that for that amount of money it should suck my dick too, but you can't have everything.
10/21/2005 11:15:51 AM
that's the exact chair i have--but no arm rests...BLAH!butit sounds like aeron is the way to go...maybe i should fork over my own money and if leave this job i can take it with me...
10/21/2005 11:59:14 AM
^^ hahaha, i'm also sitting on one of those.I'd kill for an Aeron chair tho. My step-father-in-law has one, and it's as good as sitting on a chair made completely of titties.
10/21/2005 12:29:54 PM
i'm stting on a samsonite from staples, it's rather decent.lumbar support is really important for me.when i get up, it's like i haven't been sitting down at all.no sore spots.[Edited on October 21, 2005 at 12:47 PM. Reason : $70 down from $150 on clearance. cloth, b/c it breathes better.]
10/21/2005 12:46:28 PM
I'm thinking about having my desk raised and getting a high chair so i can alternate between sitting and standing throughout the day.
10/21/2005 12:58:54 PM
i'd also suggest getting a gavel so you can shout "you're out of order, sir!" and then promptly go back to whatever you were doing.actually, you'll appreciate sitting higher up as you get older.
10/21/2005 1:24:43 PM
We are also getting Herman Millers next month....!
10/21/2005 3:00:16 PM
we have: our managers have:
10/21/2005 3:16:04 PM
We have the 2nd one right there at my office in cary. It's good for posture, support, all that, but sometimes I like to sit with one leg pulled up so my ankle is behind my other knee - it's almost impossible to do that in those chairs because of the hard edges. But I guess you're not supposed to sit like that.....I'm in the office in Munich right now and the "standard issue" chairs suck - if the bottom is flat (parallel to the ground), the back leans back, and if the back is straight up, the bottom slants towards the ground. terribly uncomfortable, and my neck and shoulders started to ache horribly by 1:00 each day. I changed to a normal, non reclining, lightly padded 90degree chair and I feel better now. If I force myself to sit up straight it helps a lot.

Exactly my chair at my current job. Not bad, but not the best. Still I think they run about $500 or so.
10/21/2005 5:56:27 PM
10/21/2005 11:21:16 PM

10/22/2005 11:34:46 PM

10/25/2005 4:03:26 PM
you people suck with your nice chairs... ours are ok...
10/25/2005 4:59:36 PM
i used to be in the labon my feet 5-6 hours a daygood timesnow i sit on my ass 5-6 hours a day
10/25/2005 11:29:05 PM
but yeah, sitting in front of a computer all day sucks no matter what chair you have
10/26/2005 12:16:00 AM
10/26/2005 12:26:36 AM
I've got a Herman Miller Aeron chair here at work, its mostly comfortable but mine is too big. I have the size C chair, when I'm too short for it. I need a size B chair instead. One of these days I'll go snooping and try to trade with a co-worker
10/26/2005 8:56:59 AM
wtf they're just chairsthe shit on sale at office max or kmart is fine with me
11/1/2005 10:48:18 PM
You are sitting at a computer, not flying a fighter jet. I don't think you need a special chair.
11/2/2005 7:17:31 AM
you may want to look at your feet position and make sure that they are not hanging and are at the proper angle for your back and position ergonomically.Ps i got a 80 dollar chair max so dont complain[Edited on November 6, 2005 at 10:11 PM. Reason : goat cheese]
