you're 4 screws, and IDE cable, and a power cable from burning DVDs.(no, it's not hard.)[Edited on October 10, 2005 at 12:19 PM. Reason : .]

ok. thanks

depends, do you have a dell?because it was nearly impossible to force my dvd drive into it. plus you can only access 2 screws, so you better hope there is an empty slot.

on a scale of easy ranging 1-10(10 being easiest) i'd give it an 8its pretty easy

i'm just going to get one and swap it out for my regular DVD drive already installed... it's an HP.

nah def not. i know with Dell's it can be a pain sometimes but with an HP u should be fine. should take like 15-20 minutes tops including disassembly and reassembly and reconnection of everythin.

^^the other side of the case that I just got from dell is riveted on. it is a major pain to do any swapping/upgrading on this bitch. thanks for your call though

Who uses screws anymore? This is what drive rails are for.
10/10/2005 2:28:35 PM
screws >>>> drive rails
10/10/2005 2:30:45 PM
^ What are you thinking? I'll never use anything else... well my HDDs have thumb screws... but still, drive rail are great. Just clip and go.

it's the same thing as Notepad > Dreamweaver, UNIX > Windows, command line > GUI, blah blah blah

maybe im missin something then. the one side slides off easily, but i dont see an easy way to get to the other side. i also had to take the psu out to add my dvd burner
10/10/2005 7:18:26 PM
Why would you have to take the psu out? What model Dell do you have?
10/10/2005 8:43:59 PM
4700, drive wouldnt fit through the front
10/10/2005 9:27:38 PM
i thought you could pull the faceplace off of the dell and then slide the drive in.replace faceplate.done.
10/11/2005 2:21:34 AM
hmm, never dealt with a dellultimately, its a hdd cable, an audio cable, a power cable and possibly one jumper....not hard
10/11/2005 2:56:16 AM
