Quote :
"Baghdad - US-led forces have bombed eight bridges on the Euphrates River in western Iraq to stop insurgents using them, US military spokesperson Major General Rick Lynch said Thursday.

"We have been taking out portions of bridges with precision strikes," he told a news conference. Of 12 bridges between the Syrian border and Ramadi, 110km west Baghdad, "four remain under control of the coalition forces and Iraqi forces after precision strikes on the others," he said."

So of original 20 bridges, only 4 are under control of the "coalition" forces. Wow! The insurgency is really in its last throes.

What's the problem? The only problem I see is that after a couple of years of occupation shit is still running amuck in Iraq.

I hate being fucking label anything simply because the faggots that are calling names never bring anything to the table besides accusations. I say this, forget how we got into this mess, but do explain how(with a clear plan) we are going to get out.

Now you say ooh but look back into history when we beat germany and occupied it and blah blah I say this, they were more civilized than the Iraqis. I never heard of a German blowing himself off in the name of Jesus Christ.

well maybe the Iraqis are just more limber than the germans were, thus it is easier for them to blow themselves off. Could be some sort of mutation where they have less ribs or something.

i like it how we're still at a stage where in a country that we are supposedly "rebuilding", we are actually actively destroying their infrastructure.

Usually most rebuilding projects involve, oh, I don't know, taking something apart or demolishing something old and rebuilding it. But hey, maybe all the engineers around here know better...

Blowing up 8 bridges is not destorying Iraq's infrastructure, its a tactical move to minimize insurgents which could save soldiers lives and bring our troops home sooner. Isnt that the "goal" here?

I guess we should go ahead and blow up the schools and paved roads that we have created before we leave too because its part of our evil agenda.

^ You're more than welcome to post some good stuff happening in Iraq. There was even a thread for that purpose, but no one could deliver.

I'm sure there are good stuff, but as of now, we still haven't rebuilt all of the powerplants, water treatment plants, hospitals, schools, and roads that we blew up in the initial attack. For most Iraqis, in general, things are worse now than they were just before the attack.

It also seems that most Americans are starting to realize that the Iraq war was done in a screwed up way, with Bush's approval ratings in the high 30s/low 40s (although Rove's and DeLay's antics surely don't help this).

12 bridges minus 8 bridges = 4 bridges left.

where do you see 20 total bridges.

I put a list of stuff in that thread, or did you just not see it.

So you would support sending in more troops, and more money, to accomplish this faster?

40% was as low as the ratings got and they were at 45% last week. This was mainly because of Katrina, and gas prices. As gas prices start to decrease, the approval ratings will increase.

Now I would like to ask a question. What would you do to ensure that the USA "wins" the war.

not only did they bomb eight bridges, they kicked out worshippers and turned 7 mosques into military camps with snipers. i just dont get it.

Ar-Ramadi.

US troops seize mosques in ar-Ramadi, turn them into camps.

Mafkarat al-Islam reported in a dispatch posted at5:22pm Mecca time Wednesday afternoon, that US forces backed up with armor and other giant vehicles had stormed seven mosques in ar-Ramadi, some 110km west of Baghdad. The Americans reportedl threw worshippers out of the mosques, arresting some of them. They then closed the mosques and declared them to be US military encampments. No one was allowed to get within 1,000meters of the buildings.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent reported that one of the mosques that the Americans took over is the main cathedral mosque of ar-Ramadi. US troops deployed snipers in the building’s two minarets and brought several military vehicles inside the mosque courtyard.

How many batallions are trained? 80 or 1?

Also, I heard the batallions that we are training aren't integrated.

We're training batallions with only Kurds, batallions with only Sunni muslims, and Shi'ite battalions.

At least when civil war breaks out, they can efficiently kill each other's batallions.

Al-Zawahiri to al-Zarqawi: Prepare for U.S. to leave Iraq soon

From David Ensor
CNN

Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Posted: 0800 GMT

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Senior U.S. intelligence officials call a letter from al Qaeda's No. 2 man to its leader in Iraq "chilling" because of how "calm, clear and well argued" it is in urging preparation for a U.S. departure from Iraq.

According to a translation of the 6,300-word letter provided by the U.S. government, Ayman al-Zawahiri predicts "the Americans will exit soon" from Iraq and says "things may develop faster than we imagine.""

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/10/11/alqaeda.letter/

A rapid withdrawal from Iraq wouldn't surprise me. Republicans want to stay in power in 2006 so they can continue to raid our treasury.
