I need a replacement reed switch for one that was shattered by shock. I have a huge amount of hardware around, I just need to figure out what would have a reed switch I could desolder in it (and where).Any ideas? That or somewhere local that sells them would be great.

Come on, someone must know something that has one in it.

Maybe like a door/window sensor for a security system. Some amps make clicking noises like something's switching...[Edited on October 6, 2005 at 10:35 PM. Reason : o]

I used to get them at radioshack, but they don't carry as many components as they used to.

^ Yeah, the fucking bastards. I went over there to grab one and was pissed as hell when I found out they no longer carry them.^^ A door sensor would be perfect if I could find one. Amps use larger relays . . . . reed switchs don't make audible clicks.I have plenty of laser printers, random boards, etc I could strip for parts. There must be one somewhere in one of them, but I need to figure out WHERE.[Edited on October 6, 2005 at 10:39 PM. Reason : .]

radio shack should have them as a security sensor which are normally open of course. lowes also carries the door/window switches.

Apparently reed relays have a normal glass reed switch inside. So if I can find something with a reed relay in it I'll be good . . . if I can even find that.

Is it for a bike computer sensor, perhaps? Whatever the case, I think there's a place called Allied Electronics on Jones Franklin, I looked them up a while back when mine broke and they have reed switches. You might wanna call before, I can't tell if they are more of a distribution center or a typical walk-in storefront...http://www.alliedelec.com/Default.asp
