Okay, I'm going to be ignorant here....

Most DVDs play really well on my computer.

However, a rented copy of firefly had the colors all wonkified, definately not reading the dvd right in the software.

I was using PowerDVD and also tried Windows Media player.

I downloaded the trial of WINDVD and that could play it *perfectly* however, it's a trial, and I'm too cheap to buy the software. And i'm curious.

Is there anyway to get PowerDVD or WMA to use the same decoding for color that WINDVD used?

perhaps it was the disc

Windows media player does not come with its own dvd decoder.

it relies on 3rd party decoders for watching dvds. most likely it is currently using powerdvd.

I would suggest playing with the decoder settings in powerdvd and also making sure you have no wierd optiions configured in the hardware video overlay settings on your graphics card.
