Car: 1992 Honda Civic CX Hatchback 5spdProblem: While backing up the car (reverse) I hear a grinding sound coming from the right rear tire area. Now there is a constant low grinding sound, however if you were to say Grind every second (Grind Grind Grind Grind....) that Grind is a bit louder at the 1 sec interval. Now this may also be happening in forward motion, however I cannot hear over the engine noise. My first thoughts are the rear right drum and pad needs to be replaced (as far as I know has not been done in a long time)ideas?

step one, jack the car up, try to move the wheel around, then pull off the wheel and brake drum and look at the shoes, its not that hard to diagnose.btw, the next person that comes to my shop, describes a noise and asks how much it will cost to fix, without even telling me what kind of car it is, and me having no idea whats wrong with it, is gonna get punched in the face

no, just give em a noise of what the cost to fix will be.say $texas
