... to replace the hole that I blew in the Hooker shorties... It pulls harder now, although I don't see too much of a difference on the low end, but up around 3rd and 4th gear, there is a world of difference... I haven't had a chance to see 5th gear, and 6th gear, well, i am not dumb enough to go that fast around here...[Edited on September 23, 2005 at 12:00 AM. Reason : .]

your lowend shouldnt really increase at all since you are getting rid of a ton of back pressure. what brand did you get?
9/23/2005 1:19:22 AM
pacesetter because they came with the EGR hookup
9/23/2005 1:40:29 AM
paceSHITTER.
9/23/2005 1:55:39 AM
thats what i went wenta whole lot cheaper than all other brands and they slid in perfect.
9/23/2005 9:23:16 AM
back pressure is a good thing
9/23/2005 9:24:46 AM
no.
9/23/2005 10:49:07 AM
pacesetter is such complete shit...I hope you're already shopping for your next set
9/23/2005 11:06:14 AM
ok, cool maybe you should read up on exhaust design and principlesyou want to have some amount of back pressure. your exhaust system works by creating a vacuum to pull the gases out of and away from the engine. if you put too large of a system on there, pipes too big, etc, you are decreasing your cars natural vacuum system, thereby reducing the speed at which EGs are removed from the system. yes, there is some benefit to running larger pipes and components, but there quickly develops an issue of diminishing returnsi can go further if you would like me to, but back pressure is a good thing, yes there are variables and yes, too much is a bad thing, but the dumbass idea of putting larger pipes (i know this isnt the complete issue being discussed here) to increase your flow, and increase HP or whatever is just plain wrong.
9/23/2005 11:08:03 AM
No engine ever wants backpressure. Backpressure is NEVER good. Why would you ever want something that is fighting exhaust getting out and away from the engine? What you do want is exhaust gas velocity, there is a difference.

pacesetter headers do suck
9/23/2005 12:12:57 PM
pacesetter (*insert product here)s do suck
9/23/2005 12:14:04 PM
^Not neccesarily. The f-body longtubes they make are as good as any, and they cost quite a bit less than hookers or jet hots. They even come with the same coating.
9/23/2005 12:26:16 PM
^ what i have been trying to say
9/23/2005 12:32:08 PM
the fact that they cost less is reason enough that they are shit they have a worse rep and therefore have to have lower prices
9/23/2005 12:35:59 PM
remember that generally, you get what you pay for...pacesetter products will not perform or last nearly as long as other brands
9/23/2005 12:44:14 PM
they are headersthey are made to the same dimensions as the others and they give the same performance. i payed $250 for them and if i was going to get any better headers they would be kooks or qtp's which cost over $800. im pretty sure these will last me longer than i own my car.for a fbody there is no reason to get anything better than pacesetter unless you wanna step it up to stainless. if you do any research on a fbody message board you will learn that that is pretty much how it goes.[Edited on September 23, 2005 at 3:17 PM. 9/23/2005 3:16:20 PM
I know they make a header for my car (Rx-7) that sucks monkey balls compared to the competition.
9/23/2005 3:35:50 PM
pacesitter wtfmight as well go to fuckin midas and spraypaint the $20 one year special
9/23/2005 4:14:44 PM
ya'll bitch a lot whether you know a damn thing or notthey aren't the best, but whatever, they're better than the shorties that were on there before. if you want to see any real differences you'll probably need to get it on the dyno. what year is that thing anyways??
9/23/2005 4:29:28 PM
i think we had a pacesitter something on some kind of car, what was it?
9/23/2005 4:35:20 PM
Pacesetter make a pretty damn good set of longtubes for fbodies. Quit hatin.[Edited on September 23, 2005 at 9:11 PM. Reason : for real]

9/24/2005 5:03:55 PM
god damnit, shut the fuck up.the pacesetter headers are NEARLY as good as any other header for the f-body.Sure, they're not Groty's or freakin' Kooks, but damn, for the price, they flow well, look pretty darn good, and hold up very well. Mike
9/25/2005 9:45:57 AM
mike has pacesetter exhaust on his BMW.
9/25/2005 3:56:43 PM
I put a set of pace setters on a friends 03 Z28. They fit awesome and were very easy to install even without a lift. Kooks has the reputation but damn for the money..........

Lack of hands on knowledge has clutterfucked another TWW thread. The Pacesetter's make good power, and are cheap to boot. It might not have a Jet-Hot coating, but then again if looking clean isnt your thing it really doesn't matter. And Pacesetter might make some other things that aren't of decent quality, but their long tubes have a good rep.

preciate it man. I thought I'd seen you; you were on the phone the whole time. Car looks good though; sounds even better. The LT1 sounds damned good Mike
10/13/2005 9:29:08 AM
The pacesetter header on my corolla has held up fine for 2+ years. Its a 4-1 which is obviously not ideal, but my original manifold was cracked, and the pacesetter was cheaper than a factory replacement. The first few days when the paint was burning off was the most fun.
10/13/2005 4:07:10 PM
