Is there any way being a few months past inspection could burn a driver short of being pulled over and ticketed for it?[Edited on September 22, 2005 at 3:59 PM. Reason : that's better]

thats if you get caught. My friend doesn't give out just inspection violation unless your an asshole, or you got written up for something else (like speeding).

You should get a notice in the mail before they fine you - i believe after being three months overdue you get a 60 day notice. The last two years i have done this - it was due in september, i got a notice in december, and had to have it done by the end of february. The interesting part is, even if you have it done a few months late, the new one will still only be good until a year after the original due date. (i.e, even though i got mine done in february, the new sticker was only good until september)

I just got my notice. I got until the first of next month to come into compliance. Which means I might be able to earn enough money to fix the damn thing so it will pass.

wait wait waitmy jeep has been past inspection since februaryand no $250 fine has shown upof course, i've never had it inspected since i've owned it....if asked, i'll say i just got it runningor somethingor really just take it to my family's shop where they'll prolly just slap the sticker on there

They usually don't keep track of inspections when the vehicle changes owners. So if you never get it inspected, they won't know any better unless you get pulled over and the cop notices it.

^I might try that and take mine in December or January and take advantage of the pre-OBD II safety only change over. Mines due in October, but I have to put all of the emissions garbage back in to pass visual inspection.

just put it in. maybe wire tie it in place. they won't know the difference. then you can take it back off easily.

They stop running the sniffer emissions test on vehicles '95 and older.

I like how you don't even have to have a safety inspection if your car is over 30 or 35 years ( I don't remember, other than my 67 cutlass doesn't need one and my 77 Jeep does). Possibly the most unsafe vehicles on the road not needing the "safety" inspection
