I'm looking to replace my cell phone... I do not care about PDA-type features, ringtones, etc... I just want a durable flip phone with the best "signal power" possible and long battery life. I will be mostly using the phone in Raleigh/Eastern NC but also go up to the mountains quite a bit (near Meadows of Dan, VA). When I'm up there, I do not get a signal at all now (Cingular / Motorolla V551 (g8.5/9/18/19)) but other people up there do get a signal, even though it's a bit spotty.

No one at stores seems to have reliable info, and I am having a hard time finding resources on the net with this type of information... anyone have any good links, info, or advice?

the problem is you have cingular (all digital) and in the mountains there are very few digital towers

you need a CDMA carrier that uses both the digital and analog towers like verizon wireless
