i'm having trouble converting wma napster files to mp3 with standard programs, any suggestions?
9/18/2005 11:39:23 PM
iTunes does it automatically.
9/18/2005 11:57:32 PM
dont have that, nero, roxio, and several wma to mp3 converters i have tried havent recognized the files as anything, even though wmp can play them fine along with napster, its like its a microsoft conspiracy, i'm just trying to convert them to mp3s so my xbox can read them on the network and so i can burn some cds with these napster files
9/19/2005 12:00:23 AM
iTunes does it automatically.(and it's free - http://www.apple.com )
9/19/2005 7:42:11 AM
Napster's WMA files have copy protection on them (I think)
9/19/2005 9:31:04 AM
yes, I looked it up and Napster's WMA files do have DRM protection on them.and iTunes can NOT import DRM protected WMA files
9/19/2005 10:31:15 AM
9/19/2005 10:51:40 AM
oh look at that, he said napster right there in the first post. guess i skipped that part. All of the online music stores stick DRM in their files ('cept those crazy russian ones)But you're gonna have to look a bit deeper to crack it. Commercial programs won't work to do it (itunes, nero, anything like that). You're gonna have to pull up some obscure illegal program to do it.
9/19/2005 12:31:50 PM
WMA DRM hasn't been cracked yet to my knowledge. If you do find a program that does it, send me a PM.

9/19/2005 2:14:36 PM
I'm not familiar with DMA-protected files, but the way I converted the protected Apple m4p to mp3 was by burning the songs onto a CD through iTunes and re-importing them as mp3.
9/19/2005 2:28:10 PM
That would entail paying for those files.
9/19/2005 2:28:47 PM
9/19/2005 3:52:54 PM
for fuck's sake use google
9/19/2005 4:17:47 PM
any ripping program you can find with google isnt going to last long before it gets shut down, i was hoping someone had found a program they could send me a link to
9/19/2005 4:33:08 PM
this isn't fucking server-side ripping. if you find the program, you don't need to worry about it being shut down. you'll still be able to use the damn thing.
9/19/2005 4:45:30 PM
yeah that'd be pretty silly
9/19/2005 4:52:40 PM
you know what i mean, i have searched, its hard as fuck to find one, and none of them i have found have worked, and since you two are so retarded, let me explain this better, anybody whose creates a program and puts it out there, is gonna have it quickly yanked by the man, so the chances of catching a good one on a random google search on a particular day is nil.
9/19/2005 5:06:36 PM
i didnt know people shared wma's through limewire
9/19/2005 5:45:59 PM
legal recourse: http://www.tunebite.com/ this is digital --> analog --> digital though. you can try TotalRecorder as well.illegal: http://www.theregister.co.uk/media/657.zip (info at http://www.infoanarchy.org/story/2001/10/19/102257/10 )so now you ask how did i find this?http://www.google.com/search?q=drm+wma+to+mp3fuck you, bitch.]
9/19/2005 5:58:42 PM
Winamp has plugins that do this...I got it to work one time, but now it doesn't work anymore (even with the licenses) so I gave up...
9/19/2005 5:59:35 PM
^^ already tried that one
9/19/2005 8:59:24 PM
...your point?
9/20/2005 12:00:43 PM
so besides tunebite, which sounds like shit after its converted, still nothing has worked for me so far
9/20/2005 7:46:02 PM
not a big suprise.I mean it doesn't make much sense for someone to spend hours trying to crack a DRM and then publish it on the web only to risk legal penalties. Its easier to either:- Take the risk of downloading it from a P2P service- Borrow a CD- Buy the damn music

I'm trying that, but i cant seem to get it to work, do you use it, and if so, why does the command window close after the freeme filename.wma command and nothing happens?

How has this thread not been locked? At this point it is obviously focused "illegal software."(Seriously, is this any different than people asking for product keys?)[Edited on September 21, 2005 at 6:52 PM. Reason : pk]
