Good.I really don't care if "under god" is in the pledge, but kids obviously shouldn't be forced to say it. Actually, kids shouldn't be forced to pledge allegiance to anything, especially not in religious context.

9/14/2005 6:53:17 PM

^^I had the plurality mismatched on purpose.
9/14/2005 7:22:52 PM
And so are race to make sure that nobody is forced to stand out in school continues at a breakneck pace.
9/14/2005 7:31:57 PM
how many 8 year old kids think about what the pledge means when they say it?this shit is pointless
9/14/2005 8:13:48 PM
most of them say invisible anyways, that is if there is actually a coherant word in their mumbling.

^gg for being pedantic and not answering the question...
9/15/2005 1:06:52 PM
i got an idea...how bout we throw out meaningless piddly cases like this from the start and actually have the courts decide things that are worth a damn
9/15/2005 1:07:44 PM
^^um the question is fucking stupid since he equates 'pledging allegiance to something' to 'being a servant to something'. Nor does the pledge actually say anything about the government. The closest it comes is 'Republic' which could be interpreted in multiple ways, but definately isnt a synonym for government. As to answeriing the question; You can be a douche and not pledge your allegience if you want I suppose. I look at it as saying ' I am thankful/proud to be an American, and would not work to do something adverse towards the nation I am a member of'.
