So my monitor was working fine, until I messed with the resolution. I was using a 1024 x 768 resolution. I tried some other and reverted back to this one. However, now my monitor makes an annoying shrill buzzing sound. This doesn't happen for anyother resolution. I am afraid my monitor is going to die, since this is what had happened with my last monitor. Somebody help! What should I do??Edit: Refresh rate is 75 Hz and its in true color mode[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 12:19 PM. Reason : Refresh rate]

LCD or CRT? Check you refresh rate setting.[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 12:20 PM. Reason : spelling]

Have you tried turning off the monitor letting it rest (~30-60 seconds) and turning it back on? This solves a suprising amount of monitor wierdness.

Yeah I tried, but didn't help. When I changed the refresh rate to 60, the buzzing sound is gone, but the picture looks as if its blinking.

Don't use 60Hz on CRTs. Try a refreash rate between 70Hz and 75Hz if you can.Sometime windows will show a setting were the computer can pick its own optimal setting. If you have that choice it's a good option.[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 12:29 PM. Reason : additional thoughts]

I have 70 Hz now, and it seems fine. I am just hoping that it doesn't start buzzing again. Thanks for the help!
