Oh, that was the Grumpster in the paper today?Interesting. Makes sense I guess. The quality of that column surprised me. This explains it. But, shockingly enough, I agree with nutsmackr.[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 1:45 PM. Reason : c]

I agree. I care more about local issues because they affect me more personally. I also know that people let local governments slide by with shit that would be declared un-American and protested violently if implemented on a larger scale.Still, it's good to see a well-written article in the Technician.

Count yourself lucky. What I was supposed to write about was the whole "Radical Rush" mess, and I was ready to rock and roll. Unfortunately one of my, ah, peers coopted that idea despite my attempt to claim it early.I also do not like the column in the least. It is a shame I have brought down on my family that in saner cultures would result in my ritual suicide.[Edited on September 14, 2005 at 3:24 PM. Reason : ]

it's in the viewpoint section, not the impartial section

^^^ oh dear, it wouldn't take much for a column to be more coherent than the "Technician's View." n Did you read that pathetic attempt at an editorial the other day about the student althletes being placed in the ticket pool with "regular" students? OH MAN was that the most incoherent bunch of rambling I have ever seen. It was like "this is bad. Its bad because its bad. And thats bad." it had less supportive arguments than a salisburyboy post!
9/14/2005 6:42:31 PM
^^^and they already had dju123...I'm just sad that the only response I can ever get is from a l3ftie in class always bitching about Technician being a "right-wing rag"...right before they pull out an Underwood article as proof I have clearly failed as a political hack [Edited on September 14, 2005 at 6:51 PM. Trivializing the NPO haters was a bad move... but otherwise it was a pretty decently written, neutral column. Above par for Technician pieces.
9/14/2005 11:54:41 PM
It wasn't intended as "move" one way or the other. I think the NPO haters are imbeciles who will talk a big game about "freedom of assembly" and how the law is being abused when the only thing 90% of them want is for the Brent Road Party to come back and the ability to have parties that -- guess what? -- are nuisances.
9/15/2005 1:13:00 AM
I actually know nothing about the NPO, since it doesn't affect me personally in any way. Conceptually, it sounds like a crappy idea, because the po' already had powers to break up parties.
9/15/2005 1:31:34 AM
It is a shitty idea, or at least a passable one that's been shittily implemented. It's the same thing with pot being illegal. Yeah, things probably should be different, but the people who want to make the change almost always seem to want to do it for the stupidest fucking reasons.
9/15/2005 1:34:49 AM
you've been at state what? three years now? You are grossly misinformed about the NPO. No one cares about the brent road party anymore. We just don't want to be harassed by the cops for having a party and getting a NPO ticket for having someone walking around with an empty solo cup. If you are going to attack people, at least no what you are attacking them for.
